City's speed and intensity

Every team needs some players with pace look at ronaldo, messi, bale,di maria, pedro, walcott etc. all there teams benefit from the pace and movement it allows them to make! Speed is overrated is like saying mancini is a good tactician and man manager....

So pace is needed to be successful and we lack pace, how then did we win the league? Who are all these pacey players were missing from last season?

Would love someone like Fernandinho to give us some pace and quicker passing in the middle, Barry and especially Garcia are just to slow for me and is one of the big factors of why we have been so unsuccessful in Europe the past three years. Michael Bradley would be a decent signing as well imo excellent box to box midfielder.

Obviously a winger is needed just to give us a different option and give us some adaptability, Bale I think woud be eveyones first choice but very unrealistic. Nani although a **** ticks all the boxes for me for what are missing at the moment.

A pacy winger would just give us a different option something different when we need it, how many times have we struggled to break down team who park the bus like QPR and Sunderland.Might also get the best out of Dzeko.

AC Milan not many seasons ago were CL Winners x2 and runner up once, now I'm sure they wasn't blessed with pace especially in midfield, no doubt someone is gonna mention someone iv failed to remember.

A pacy winger would give us more options and boy do we lack those, but we've had Sinclair sat on the bench all season ok he's no world beater but he's proved more than capable in the league, if he can do it at Swansea his chances if looking better than he is should be enhanced playing in our side.

While I agree entirely with the op about the need for width and pace, the only thing last night did for me was busted the myth that we were in a group of death. Real are miles behind Barcelona and Dortmond likewise behind the german rags. Mancini convinces everyone starting with himself that every opponent is difficult. He won't change or can't change whatever way you want to look at it. An amicable parting would be best for all. His place in our history has already been assured.

Agree but it seems Mancini doesn't rate him and would rather send Full backs on to give us width.

We don't need pace and width to be successful, we just need speed and intensity in our passing and movement. If you move the ball quicker then it's hard to defend against, and the majority of the time we move the ball at a snails pace, especially this season.

First and foremost, that's spot on. We fundamentally need to move the ball quicker and play at a better tempo, because we know we can. The problem is you need every player to be at close to 100%. There's no question that even playing Mancini's way, if those players are at it, we are a fucking top side. We saw it last season.

We do need more pace in the side in general. Other than Yaya, and he's ageing, we don't have a midfield player who will burst past players, and we dont have an attacking midfield player who can do it either. In a way it's true that it's not necessary against the vast majority of league sides you face who will play with 9/10 players behind the ball. But against the better sides in the league, and in Europe, we've been exposed for not having this in our attacking armour.
