CL League Phase Draw 2025/26 | Fixtures (pg 32)

Yeah fair enough. I think we were all shocked at how low Monaco went. I would suggest it's because of the short notice, however Bratislava was the same week last year and that sold out on 24k or something.
I don't think it's that much of a shock to be honest.

The current points system (which started 25 seasons ago) works on the assumption that all the high pointers are still desperate for a ticket, when in reality, if you were 45+ in August 2001 then you'll now be 69+ and maybe prioritising games at the ETIHAD.

For all we know, there might be 75 supporters with more than 32,500 points, but only 25 still travelling regularly to away games.

Their points might be used so that a friend/relation/OSC Member can travel to Arsenal.

However, it's a different story for CL away games when time is critical and transport is so much more expensive

I might have no intention of travelling to Monaco or Villareal, but due to previous loyalty, I still get the chance to buy a ticket before those supporters who are desperate for a ticket.

As it happens I do, but until the points system becomes transparent (and we know exactly how many active supporters fall into each category) then the issue will slowly get worse.

People of the age you mention, who will have a large number of points, may well have less money now in retirement so will be less likely to be traveling to European away games than people with a proper salary coming in. Or be getting to an age where their physical ability or health isn’t up to traveling aboard for short busy trips.

My presumption of Monaco selling out high has nothing to do with the points you mentioned, although I completely agree with everything you're saying.

I assumed Monaco would sell out high due to the small allocation, like Bratislava did last year, which was the exact same week and a similar allocation.

I think when we renewed our season ticket when we moved to the Etihad we got 1500 pts pretty sure that's when pts system started not 100% though.
That's when it started. Before that, tickets went on sale to "regular" season ticket holders which I think was 5 years and then it went down year by year to open sale. If you were a regular season ticket holder and it was a big match, you just had to get down to the ticket office early and queue. It might be my memory playing tricks with me but I think they tried implementing producing ticket stubs from previous away matches to qualify but this didn't affect the points system. Every regular season ticket holder started with the same points when we moved to the new ground.

Did Bratislava go that high?
If so I must have got mine through OSC

Maybe it was due to it being a new venue and very easy to get to?

I've just had a look at last year's Seat Counter thread, and Bratislava actually sold out on 26k. Although there were plenty of spares knocking about.

I wouldn't personally put it in the 'Easy to get to' category, however it was definitely an attractive fixture and a new venue of course.

Going to be a lot of fans without tickets with that allocation, only goes down to 27500 points .
