CL QF Draw - City V Spurs ===== SF V Ajax (If we get there)

Haha so ok if Porto are drawn against Juve then it’s a fix FOR Juve is that right? And if Juve get City who’s that a fix for?

I mentioned the principals that are alleged to be influencing draws; Mendes cartel favors it's players (i.e. CR) or manager (Mou). In this case, Juve and ensuring they have the clearest path to advance. Would facing City tick that box much less Barca?

Ahhh ok, so the draw of Atheltico v juve was for Juve? That was an easy draw? The team that would be at ‘home’ if they reached the final an so had that extra motivation, the team with an immense defensive record. Cool.

Think with them doing the semis as well it'll be a given that Barca & Juve will be in different sides of the draw & we'll get an all English tie ideally rags v dippers, we can beat both but the team/me could do without the high intensity.

Sort of. 1989 we played Chelsea in a promotion head to head at Maine Road and united played an FA Cup Quarter Final at old trafford against Forest, (which fatefully, Forest won) at the same time on the same Saturday afternoon.

Chelsea stamped their authority on the game. They were the better side that season.

Kicked off outside the ground and in town, before and after, as you’d expect.

Thanks for that snippet, GDM, but it's much, much further back (I've pm'd Gary James about it — if anyone would know, he would). Incidentally, were you at that match you're talking about? And did you see the OT lights on across the city? If it was Quarter Final stage, of course, it would be much later on in the spring.
I sometimes wonder about Dundee and Dundee United. Whether they ever get drawn on the same day at home in the Scottish cups. They are literally at opposite ends of the same road! I don't imagine there are two teams on the planet who are geographically closer (not counting AC Milan and Inter, of course — you can't get closer than that).

City vs Spurs
Liverpool vs United
Juve vs Porto
Barcelona vs Ajax

My prediction. I think English teams will get 'drawn' to face off, Mendes will get his wish and UEFA will get their Cruyff matchup

In order of preference:

Porto, Ajax, Spurs, United, Liverpool, Juventus, Barcelona

Btw another draw we should perhaps be keeping an eye on is the Europa League quarters, who Chelsea draw and when they play home/away could be very important in the title race as their tie against Liverpool at Anfield is I think sandwiched between the two legs ... or next to one leg at least ...

Who they draw and what’s their situation then would dictate how they take their Anfield trip, also because they play Thursdays their Anfield tie can only be Sunday and not Saturday which might mean Liverpool with their own CL QF might be forced to play Sun-Tue or will they make Chelsea play Thu-Sat ...

Lots will become clearer by this afternoon I guess ...

And for us more so by Sunday afternoon after our FA Cup QF and the FA Cup semis draw.

Have to play Thurs - Sun whether coming back from Europe or not but will it matter if we win our last 8 league games I wonder.

Wolves will get points off them in the last game anyway so 7 wins at this stage is enough.

No chance of Wolves getting anything, their captain is a liverpool fan. Will put it in his own net if it comes to it in that game.

Ajax? fuck that.
I want Porto, Spurs or Rags.
Ajax had the most shots against them in the Ro16 of all 16 teams (including Shalke). If we have our shooting boots on against them we’d hammer them like Feynoord did the other week.
