Yes I should have worded my comments ref metal health issues and rationality somewhat better. You are correct that in some cases this is not the case, but obviously CC,not for the first time has suicidal tendencies and desperation then takes over, with only one thing in mind ... you as an individual.

No worries. Just to clarify, I wasn't point scoring. Depression is an issue close to my heart as my best friend of 23 years took his own life because of the illness. I also found a friend of a friend hanging in the house my mates and I was renting when I was a student.

WOW Mate you have had it rough with two people close to you and likewise there is no way I would ever think of trying to point score and I certainly never thought about your comments as anything but.
Horrible illness as I keep saying and my best mates son killed himself some 14 years ago after suffering 10+ years of severe depression and hearing voices.

I have sympathy for your best mate. He must have been through hell.

It was tough for me but far tougher for the parents and the families. My best mates dad still goes up to his sons room at 6.30pm every night. The time it is believed he passed away. He has been doing that for around 10 and a half years. My best mates parents did not know my mate suffered with depression. I haven'tgot the heart to tell them.

I didn't think you were point scoring, Oakie.

Usually when someone contemplates suicide it's not done on a whim but over months sometimes years of agonising guilt of why they feel it's necessary but well aware of the consequences and it's planned and thoughtful or else they just go mad one day while shitting in the sink and decide fuck it I'll top myself as some posters think

Anyway hope he recovers and decides his time is better spent addressing his problem rather than trying to solve everyone else's

As I`ve said before "you aint got a fucking scooby" !!! He has been suffering for years with this illness,is on medication, has attended group therapy sessions, had one to one counselling etc.

Poor guy has been dogged with mental health and alcohol abuse issue for years. The documentary he did was it last year ( ? ) had him confessing to training whilst still pissed etc

Really sad - I know a few on here have a downer on the guy but he's a bright intelligent fella who made a lot from not a massive talent - stood up for his fellow professionals by being the PFA rep then president and seemingly had a good home life with a nice wife and kids.

There's more to life than fame and money - some people even with those "benefits" have their own demons to fight.

Best of luck to Clarke and his family for 2015 and the years to come.

Not actually sure that any of those downers you mention are to do with the bloke as a person, more his bland style of analysis. He actually seems a sound bloke, and it's sad that he has those demons inside him that he's constantly battling. Here's hoping he emerges from that long dark tunnel and has a brighter, happier future.

Interview in tomorrow's papers of him confessing it was a suicide attempt.

Depression is terrible affliction to say the least, hopefully speaking out will help him.

However, I hope he's also able to realize the consequences of such actions regarding his family, friends and the driver of the lorry.

Ralf little thread downstairs pours some more interest on him.

Indeed.....and although Ralf obviously has a personal axe to grind......he also has a point imo......Carlisle,regardless of his illness, does appear to be a bit of a wanker.

Clark played in our local Leyland Albion junior teams , near preston , he was a very bright kid , he passed a few exams and i believe went onto to university before taking up professional football. When you see thick cunts like shrek (our england captain) on the box , it makes a refreshing change to have a professional footballer with a vocabulary that exceeds , "over the moon" and "erm" or starting every answer with "yeah / no" .
Some cruel f*ckers on this thread , who probably havent experienced the effects addiction has on a person and their family , and i hope they never do suffer the experience. Clark Carlisle needs help ,not kicking in the teeth when he is down , i thought bluemoon as a forum , was a lot better than this , but i suppose all forums have their dickheads . Its a real shame to see a kid with so much potential at 8 or 9 years old , end up like this , just wish all the best to his family.

Regardless of the circumstances........The only dickhead is Carlisle for getting in his car and driving it while pissed....not once.....not twice...not....

you get the drift?
