Clarkson. Finished?

Maybe he's not actually sorry?

I suspect you're right and he's not actually sorry. he's likely sorry that he's getting a load of shit, and he's sorry his daughter disowned him, and sorry that he's facing consequences for writing something a load of people found abhorrent, but not sorry for writing it.

Which makes a series of public and private (until you publicly reveal them) apologies even more contemptous.

You really do come across as being a judgemental arsewipe. You know fuck all about me pal.

I fully understand Stewart Lee’s meta comedy. I’ve seen him live about 15 times, always make a point of going to his tiny Edinburgh Fringe shows at the Stand.

Another twat for the ignore list…

Oh so if you fully understand it why did you pretend not to?

To claim a double standard you know doesn't exist? Because you thought no one else would know that Lee didn't make a joke about Richard Hammond dying in a car crash? Because you're so desperate to defend Jeremy Clarkson that you were grasping at any straw?

People like Clarkson are employed to say shocking things.

Some agree with him, and some are outraged, but either way, it adds to clicks and viewing figures. It's a sort of performance art.

It's a feature of modern media. In my opinion, if you make a career out of shocking and offending people you are a cnut. But I'm sure it's lucrative and you become a wealthy cnut.

Brought it on himself. When you're in the all-seeing sphere of celebrity you're beholden to a moral obligation to not use hurtful, potentially inciteful rhetoric. The reason comedians are so good at their job is because they recognise the fine line between this kind of rhetoric and banter; the vast majority stay behind that fine line.

Besides, Talk Radio are probably lining him up for a morning show as we speak. He'll be fine.

GB News looks made for him….

Safe decision from Amazon to cancel.
Think we have season 2 starting next month though.
Hope he keeps his job on millionaire.Great presenter on that show.
And there will be a third. After that it will end. Which sounds about right.

GT might rumble onto 2024 but then that's it. Which they should have done after they got rid of the tent.

Ah if you say so then, that’s it, case closed yer honour.

Stewart Lee made a joke about wishing Richard Hammond had been killed in a car crash. He was never cancelled for that.

Double standards eh.

(I like Stewart Lee as well as Jeremy Clarkson / Top Gear. They’re both very funny.)

That’s not double standards at all to be fair.

Did you really though? Because it's very clearly not a serious apology. Perhaps people being so gullibleas to not recognise someone being insincere when it's staring them in the face is why Clarkson has so many defenders left.

He prefaces the apology by complaining that apologies are never enough these days. Then he puts in the childish "from the balls of my feet to the follicles on my head" line just to really hammer home that this is not a serious piece of writing.

Other than that, he is still refusing to accept that his expression of pure loathing for someone he's never met was weird or wrong, and is still hiding behind the fact he was drawing from a scene in Game of Thrones as if that changes what it is that he's saying should happen.

If someone said they wanted to curb stomp Jeremy Clarkson like in American History X, or Meghan Markle should reenact the sodomy scene in Girl with the dragon Tattoo and tatto his offences on his forehead...they're still saying they'd like those things to happen.

So he's failed to even take responsibility for his comments, and he's ignored the fact people dug up lots of similar comments in previous articles about Markle. So much for "a mea culpa with bells on".

I think the fact he wrote an apology to Prince Harry, not to Meghan Markle sums up just how cowardly he is, and the fact he couldn't wait a month before publicising this "private" apology shows the motivations behind it.

Oh and ending it with "So can I move on now?" is absolutely pathetic.
He’s a ****. How did he keep his job on tv after punching his producer(?). He like Carragher seem to have gotten away with anything previously, now he’s had his comeuppance and hopefully Carragher will say something out of line and he’ll be gone too…..

wait he’s from liverpool so that’s unlikely to happen

Let's not forget the piss taking of American tourists, the parking capabilities of the French, the careless attitude of the Italians, the manufactoring skills of the ' average Brummie '. Morris Marina drivers, Peugeot drivers, caravanners, There isn't much come to think of it that he doesn't have a go at. Dont take it seriously and dont get offended, you can always turn it off.
Easy for you to say you obviously never had a purple Morris Marina.

Clarkson from Liverpool? Makes sense now, the unfunny, smug, flapfaced nobhead.

I don't believe his apology, thought it was glib and insincere. he was probably sniggering as he wrote it. It was an attempt to save face (and money).

If he'd written something like;

Dear Meghan. In my poor attempt at humour I wrote a terrible article, in which I said childish and completely indefensible things. I am deeply sorry about it. I don't hate you at all.
Sometimes I am pathetic in my ramblings, and I have a tendency to jump on bandwagons.
Please accept my sincere apologies to you, and your family.

Jeremy.

It might have been believable.
Many years ago I used to watch Top Gear, it was quite funny and entertaining. But I felt the 3 guys got way too big headed with their success and the whole thing got a bit public schoolboy childish humour. Taking the piss out of people, condescending etc. I think their success went to their heads. They thought they could do or say anything.
They reminded me of rag fans under Taggart, arrogant.
