Who knew about the plight of the farmers? The rules, the regulations, the petty local council, the costs, the hours...I didn't. Nor did any of my mates. The show has brought home what it costs to put food on our plates. And the dithering of government departments. If one loud mouthed personality can do this then surely that's a good thing?

As for family run businesses, engineering or manufacturing surely there's other tv personalities who can jump in? There's enough of them gurning their way through a medicore TV career.

I dislike Mr Clarkson intently but what he did with his farm was the work of a genius, it was clearly working and making money, and because of that the bitterness and jealousy follows forcing him to close, typical English behaviour.

I have never watched top gear but like him in QI and the farm but the biggest surprise for me is how good is he on Millionare.
Does a brilliant job with the guests on that show.

I still remember you could always tell when a new series of Top Gear was coming out, because Clarkson would be in the headlines having said something outrageous again.

He doesn’t mind being hated by a few people he’ll never meet for saying something obscene that will get people watching his shows.

The points he’s trying to put across in his farming show wouldn’t get the attention they need if he just made the show and didn’t make a twat of himself in the public eye. He’s not good looking enough to have a sex or affair scandal, or wouldn’t do that to his wife anyway, so he just opens his gob and there’s a string of frothers who love getting worked up about people like him.

Even if he promoted the hell out of it, it wouldn’t get the exposure it does after he says something about someone like Meghan Markle who at the time was in the News a lot due to Prince Harry’s book.

The general public are very easily manipulated. Clarkson probably doesn’t have a real opinion either way about Markle, he just used her name and the general public’s gullibility to get his name trending. He does have a real opinion about farming though and I started watching the programme after this thread was up last time and it’s a good programme.

I don't know I don't live there but if a relation of mine was starved and then gassed to death by the Nazis I would be incredibly angry at him comparing that to the UK treatment of migrants. It's an insane comment. And beggars belief that the BBC are standing by what he said.

I don't think he did compare being gassed to death by Nazi's with the UKs treatment of migrants.

Unless I've missed another tweet, he said "in language that is not dissimilar to that used by Germany in the 30s"

A holocaust survivor recently confronted Braverman, saying pretty much the same thing.

The Tories are scum,and while the horse has already bolted.......they are finally attempting to prevent the piss takers and criminals from entering our country.I absolutely agree with that policy and wish it had been applied years ago.

BTW The Farm is fucking brilliant.
