Clarkson Suspended by BBC

But Top Gear can continue without the said personage. The BBC own the programme (having paid him millions for it).

He IS the program it's his irreverence that is the pull.
Pull him out of it and the program dies, that isn't going to happen.

When I saw "Evans" mentioned above I jumped forward to thinking Chris Evans could be the new presenter...

Heheheheheheh :-)

Without Clarkson the Top Gear program wouldn't be what it was and I'd hazard a guess and say it wouldn't be any where near as successful, it's successful because it pushes the boundaries.
Its succesful because it appeals to middle aged white middle class leather jacket type blokes who like boring people about horsepower and V8 whatever the fuck it is. He doesnt push boundaries he just likes being heard.

As a licence fee payer I do believe I have the right to express an opinion as to how my money is spent.
You didn't really think that one through did you.

The BBC makes real profit from Top Gear (unlike most of its programming).

There is an argument the license fee would be more expensive without it.

But Top Gear can continue without the said personage. The BBC own the programme (having paid him millions for it).
Haha. Good one.

He IS Top Gear.

Whatever you think it's still successful and it will probably still be successful with him at the helm.
To be honest it isn't even REALLY about the cars.

He IS Top Gear.

Last of the Summer Wine successfully overcame the departures of Blamire, Foggy (twice) and Seymour.

I'm sure Top Gear could do the same.
