If you ask the Eccles Supporters Club people they would tell you that it takes a lot to get me offended. So my objection to this petition is not because I am offended but because I feel that people are being taken in by the hype that a sexist, racist boring person is getting all these people to sign a petition when, as a friend of mine has tweeted, people can't find the time to sign a petition about losing our NHS etc.

So please do not lump me with the 'easily offended' or accuse those people who object of going into a 'frenzy'. The only people I can see getting into a frenzy are the ones jumping on the' oh my goodness we must sign a petition to reinstate this person brigade'!! thing that's puzzling me is if he's punched someone, why is he not facing police questioning and assault charges? Surely if you were on the end of an assault, you'd go to the police as well as your employer, not just to your employer to get him sacked? So why over a week after the event has he not been questioned?

If this was in any other work place is would have been dealth in a professional manner but it hasn't. Before being investigated Dan Cohen publicly suspended Clarkson and postponed the final 3 episodes of the current series. Does he really need to punish the viewer? Nope. He could have investigated the incident without making this public. If the BBC do sack Clarkson do you think he'd be skint and short on offers? It's the license paying viewer who's suffering from this incident.
