Classic cars

I drive a Mini, saving up for a full restoration at the moment...

My second car was a mini when I was 19. It was a bit of a comedown from a Supermirafiori and I blew the engine up doing 85mph going past Birch services on the M62.
My son-in-law's first car was a mini and he cut the roof off and made it a convertible. I bet that would have been safe in a crash.

Whilst driving down the Californian coast last year I got talking to a surfer who was sat in a sky blue 1960's Ford Mustang. It truly was a thing of beauty in that colour. He was telling me how the lady selling it quoted him '3' as a price and he thought she meant $3,000, she actually asked for $300 and he paid very quickly and got out of there quickly.

-- Thu Aug 16, 2012 3:06 pm --

My Dad had a cracking Mini during the nineties. Great little runner but he and I got way too fat for it.

I love the Countryman and the Coupe's a belter.

My Mini's a 95 model, lovely little runner, very nippy and has never let me down. Costs a lot of money to get it back to peak condition, but I make up for that in petrol...

Not mine, but same model -

Along with the original VW Beetle and some early Jaguar's, they are my favourite cars and always make me smile. I'm not an expert on cars but love something that looks simply good to the eye.

My cousin always had minis, he must have had at least 10 of them over the years. He was a big fella too, 6'2 18 stone. He used to cram the wife and two kids in too.

The image of Hightower in Police Academy just popped in my head ;) Has there ever been a two seater version?

It's like my love for BMX bikes, I can spend a few hours looking at vids and pics of them but if I got one it's be like watching an elephant ride a chicken.

Bought this 3 years ago from a guy in Oxford who imports them from Australia so no rust.

1975 late bay. Chose the colours for the respray :-)

Been all over in it, I was thinking of getting rid this year as the weather has been so crap but just got back from Ireland where I fell back in love with it.

I went to college with a lad who was 6"10"" and drove a mini. He got stopped for speeding once, and the copper let him off just because of the comedy value of watching him crawl in and out of it
