Classic reggae tunes

I just wanted to express my gratitude to fellow citizens who have given their time and expertise to make this one of the best BM threads ever.

As a born and bred South Manchester boy who has had many mates of Jamaican descent, my love of classic reggae, lovers rock, ska and dub [overspilling into punk and similar forms] is eternal.
When I manage to set aside the time between businesses and family [sigh!], I'd love to go through the tunes all in detail, some of which I have, the rest of which I crave.

Anyway, I am organising a regular reggae night at my City Centre bar when the stoodies are back in a couple of weeks and would welcome input. PM me if you fancy a DJ slot, but no deep base as environmental health don't like it and I've been down that road before.

However, the music stands alone and deserves more exposure. One Love.

Superb. Lamacq also played Fatty's new cover of 'Insane in the Membrane' about an hour ago on 6 Music.

Naaaah - They weren't reggae - they were grunge rock bollocks

...at a time that I was musically blinkered to only anything with an american import label on it, they at least opened me up to listening to other stuff - (more like washington DC hardcore than grunge, though... - give it a try!)

lots old reggae/ska crossover influence all over the place..... I notice the skints get a mention a page or two back...

Scientist dub it up ...

I had the very great pleasure of meeting and chatting briefly with LKJ at one of his readings in Lancaster (of all places). As an impressionable 18 year old white kid, I was absolutely awestruck by the man as he told me not to be afraid of any 'man, woman nor beast' before signing my tatty copy of Mi Revalueshanary Fren: 'Chris. Respect. LKJ'

I love this thread.

I only kicked it off in the hope of getting some decent tunes for a sunny day, but in a pretty modest 14 pages of zero bullshit, ego and personality clashes, I've gained whole new facets to my musical education.

Thanks to everyone.

Any one fancy bumping the Classic Reggae thread?

Seeing as being the last poster I can't do it myself.

A lot of people enjoying it, just needs that front page action.

Too right JOTS .
