Club Badge (merged)

As I said though if it has gone(has this even been confirmed?), I'll eventually get used to the new badge but since we are sharing views here this notion of everyone is entitled to an opinion and can say what they like as long as you hate the eagle doesn't fly with me.

made me smile anyway

I dunno can we really disregard any fans just because of what country they are from? Shouldn't they have atleast some say? There's one thing having more weight(I do agree that Manchester people and especially those lifelong fans should have more weight) but it's another to give someone no say at all, that's wrong and you know it. As long as they have been supporting a number of years and not likely to switch when they get bored. If we want to reach a level of Bara or R Madrid some people are going to have get with the times.

I'd don't think it is wrong. They should have no input on something that is so central to the identity of Manchester City.

If they did, what's to stop a large number of Thais from lobbying for elephants on the crest, for example?

But other, less important stuff? Sure.

Not sure what that point is at the end, sounds a lot like nonsense frankly. Neither of those two clubs are going to give all their fans, regardless of how long they've supported them or where ever they're from, an equivalent say on things like decisions on the club crest.

It's about the attitude to their fan base the last bit.

I think that's why it's being done so quickly. Nike need a final design for next seasons kits. I've no idea what the lead time is for that though.

they can just beat the child slaves in their slave shops to work faster more to create more time to choose surely?

no fan will get to decicde on the final design, the whole consultation was the only interaction the fans got. The final design is based on the results on the consultation process, so the final design, fans will have to like it or lump it.

and .... not expecting an Eagle ... going off what the dude say in the email ... the eagle is no longer part of the forward plan. Yay!!

I do think the plan was to change because of the CFG portfolio, it doesn't fit alongside the rest and I say the amount they have done for this club means you have to try and see things their way a little bit(it does makes sense for what they are trying to build). Thats not to say they haven't tried to listen to what the fans want in the round badge though so they do care. My issue is who have they been listening to though? From the sounds of it they've just gone around the supporters clubs and got the feedback there, my local one doesn't exactly have the youngest members in theirs, from what I've seen of others on CityTV the same rings true for many others so I think the opinions you'll get there are very one sided.

I think if they were really listening to the fans then they'd have had to keep the Eagle personally. I've just looked at the Bluemoonrisingtv youtube comments regarding the news and an overwhelming majority are complaining(not even debatable). I've seen people say the same of facebook too(never use that so cant confirm it) but then pass it off as "oh its all just the young fans", I'd disagree with that for a start because plenty of older fans like it too(I'd wager that you could lose the stars and the latin and they'd all be happy... its the eagle that makes it recognisable). Secondly to say you are going to ask the fans and then ignore a "massive"(lol) section of them, even if it were just the young fans(which it's not) that would be disregarding the future in a way and saying their opinions aren't as important isn't smart. We haven't seen the badge yet so it might still be there in some way, which would make the above irrelevant.

I know I said I'd not post till we see the official one but seeing the reaction to the news had me thinking.

I'm not trying to dismiss your post mate, but do you seriously think it's a conspiracy that we are going to a round badge?

Your idea seems to be based on what your mates have said they want, and some posts on facebook.

There is a huge majority on Bluemoon who have said the want a round badge. The M.E.N poll showed a huge majority want the round badge. The club said the online vote was "overwhelmingly" in favour of a return to a round badge.

It's a bit far fetched to suggest Bluemoon, the M.E.N and the club have all conspired to get rid of the eagle in complete contrast to what "most fans" want.

if you open the badge creation up to everyone though we'd end up with something that doesn't reflect the core manchester support thoughts though. going off twitter or on here the majority of non match going fans and foreign fans want to keep the eagle, more of the long standing core support prefer the old badge ( not everyone). the badge is to important to the club and has to represent and link to the city of manchester - most fans abroad ( not all ) will have no idea about manchester or what our history is. the core manchester support should have the biggest say in this imo.

ok ... lets take it from another direction .... who thought that when NYCFC and MelCFC badges were created, CFG was created as the Company for all 3 clubs, that the possibility of MCFC getting a Circular badge wasnt an option?

then take another step .... after the creation of the circular badges for out 'sister' clubs and the fact we already have used the circular badge in our recent history (call it a generation or 2) ... did no one honestly think that's we'd never go back to a circular badge??

Honestly, regardless of the "fans consultation" results ... the circular option was the only one on the table in my opinion.

It is that display I'm picturing somehwere on the Campus, in a reception area, there is a wall with the MCFC, NYCFC, MelCFC and Yokohama badges lined up .... and I just thought .... i'm sure they are wanting them to look the same .... so it looks neat, proper and tidy. Eventually there is will be 4 circular badges there, i have no doubt, hence why i did the 'Tale of Four Cities' image years ago.
