Club before Country

Country above all else. League games are dime in a dozen but world cup is arranged only every forth year.

There are very few people who would actually put their national side before their club. I just also want the national team to do well. What I don't understand is people who don't give a shit about their national team even in the big tournamants.

yeah, I've never had strong feelings about England either because I don't like the FA/Management set-up or some of the players (except when they're City of course) so I've often found myself more behind Eire, Ireland, Wales (yeah, LOL) and Scotland, although I do 'support' England it's not a patch on what I feel for City, and never will be.

for example, as nice a guy and knowledgeable Sir Bobby was, I never fancied his English sides, and he wasn't the man I wanted the FA to appoint; similarly with Ron Greenwood - remember him? Clough should have got the job, but of course the FA is totally inept.

sometimes I couldn't care less about our national team.... but I reckon with a stronger City representation that could inexplicably bolster things somewhat; I wonder why?

It gets on my nerves. Back in the day they would just play a qualifier mid week and still play for their clubs either end of it. What is the harm in that? But now all of a sudden we have to put up with constant and lenghty interruptions to the season. This is the second time in a month! I don't know anyone who isn't pissed of with it now.

What is worse, international football is boring. It's great once the tournament is under way but these pre tournament group stage games are usually boring mismatches at best and I don't know why the whole qualifiying process has to be two interminable years. I appreciate there has to be some way to ensure that the best teams qualify for South Africa but does it have to go on for two years? I think not.

But the friendly games are the worse. Why does everyone have to drop everything just to accommodate meaningless crap like the friendly against Holland last week. I agree with te Rag-Side on this, It us boring and ridiculous and only the little-Englander fans of Doncaster Rovers and Crewe Alexandra have any time for it.

They are pissing about with our momentum!

I hear ya, but the problem is players in the major leagues come not just so many different countries anymore....but continents. I mean, playing a qualifier on Wed for Tevez or Robinho, and than playing a league game on Sat....that's a lot to ask.

The passion I feel for comes head and shoulders above the national team. Of course I like them to do well, but I would die for this club and its in my blood. Your club represents part of who you are and whats makes you. How many experiences and memories have been shared through City, with family and friends. Tears wepped and blood shed. Im sorry but the national team does not come close, and how could I support a side made up of rag shite like Ferdinand and Shrek, players who have brought so much heartache to us in the past? Im sorry City >>>>>>>>>>> National Team. CTID.

Perhaps but the CL clubs do quite a lot of travelling and aren't indulged the way the national team is. The rags have to travel to Russia (a good four hour flight)and Turkey either side of this month's Mnchester/Trafford derby so they could probably make the same argument. also, if there is fixture congestion as it is, then why make matters worse with pointless, boring friendlies that teach us absolutely nothing.
