Comments like this make me nervous that he could play a stronger team tomorrow night than on Saturday. Hopefully he's just saying it out of respect for Brugge.

I don’t take too much notice of anything managers say really because what they say is hardly ever what they mean. Managers are psychologists as much as they are coaches, they often make comments they don’t really mean to deflect attention (or blame when it’s post-match) onto something else.

Managers are excellent at doing the old *look at this over here* left-hand-in-the-air movement while what’s really going on is behind his back with their right hand. Pep said he was happy post-math on Saturday, when in reality he will have locked the changing room doors post-game and fucking roasted the lot of them.

Their words to the media are mostly to distract the media from what really needs focusing on.

When he says stuff like this he makes a rod for his own back. It riles fans who are rightly sceptical as to whether he views derbies in the same way we do.

As a manager he doesn’t need to overtly show respect to Bruges, he just needs to not show disrespect.
He doesn’t view derbies in the same way we do. Just like Ferguson never viewed City or Liverpool games the same way the fans did while he was United manager. Roy Keane has said before that Ferguson’s (and his own) big game was Arsenal and Wenger, not City or Liverpool. His aim was to “knock Liverpool off their perch” and he used Liverpool’s history of success to push United further in the media spotlight, but the big game for United in the 90s and 00s was Arsenal as Liverpool only challenged Ferguson for the title once.

Pep’s big game is Liverpool and Klopp, not United. Liverpool have been our main rivals in Pep’s reign as manager.

I think Chelsea, for obvious reasons, is now same as Liverpool for him. Curiously, Klopp and Tuchel were both Dortmund managers while he was at Bayern, so it’s a repeated rivalry for him.

As for the quote, as a matter of perspective, some Brazilian fans who are obsessed with winning the UCL think he may have that as the priority this time, so they thought it was fine. And maybe he does? Who knows how he feels about our chances of winning the league this time

I’ve just been watching the Press Conf with Pep and am stunned how some of those absolutely clueless cünts get to ask him questions that completely irrelevant to the up comping game. Why are these buffoons screened and their questions checked??? I would love to see pep just give them a blank face and say ‘that question is not relevant to this match’

Could this actually be close to a sell out?
Hard to judge.

What it says on the planner for how many tickets are left on sale never actually represents the seats we have in the stadium, they’re just the amount of tickets the club have put up for sale on the City ticket website.

But City sell tickets on other platforms, they hold back tickets, they give tickets away that might not be taken up, they have their own players+staff f&f tickets that might not be taken up, UEFA and sponsors are given a good number of tickets that might not be taken up…

Hi - off-topic, but as a non-City supporter, tomorrow will be my first time at the Etihad - just wanted to ask if my bag would be allowed by security. Measurements are about 10"x7"x2". It's black, non-transparent and worn over the shoulder. I've read the club bag policy but wanted to make sure as I'd rather not pay an extra £10 for the storage.

I normally take my grandkids and need a bag for a blanket and snacks, the guys at the gate look through it and are fine. Never had any problem.

Dunno I take the kids but leave the bag at home, boom boom

I've been seat counting it.

620 seats left on the planner. Was 1600 yesterday morning and 2900 Monday.

Capacity is reduced I think for CL games, although that might not be the case now we've taken out a few front rows.

Cup games have less no-shows, but there may well be allocations given over to schools or agencies or whatever they do. I assume it will be 51 or 52K.

the questions are scripted beforehand, are agenda-driven , and therefore are a waste of f'kin' time. Pep knows all the clumsy traps they lay, treats them with barely disguised contempt,
like a cat with a mouse.

not sure you can tell based off the seat planner as the above poster said. The club make lots of tickets unavailable and grey them out. When you get to the ground they are often empty
