Used to go watching England.
Till they played anyone who wore a rag shit.
Then making Rooney the captain.
That was the icing on the cake for me.
Never watched them again
This. Once the England hierarchy began giving caps out to rag players -regardless of whether they warranted them or not- was the beginning of the end for me. And Hodgson publicly stating that he would pick Shrek even if he had a broken leg WAS the end.

But in answer to the original question, it's not even something I would have to dwell upon - City hands down.

I fell out with following Engerland in 2002 when Team Beckham was selected for the World Cup even though he was injured. That said, the FA had become all about making money over creating a winning team with a legacy such as Germany, Spain and France. They pander to certain players over the coach, which Capello later proved.

I still enjoy watching other nations play, and I embrace the Euros and World cup finals because it's still the best of the best. Although UEFA/FIFA really don't need to give some a leg up because of the TV revenue they bring in.

International football has always been a side show for me and Euro '96 was the last time I was excited by the football England played.

I'm not in the "sack the waistcoat" brigade as I think Southgate's just attempting to win a tournament by being (normally) hard to beat (which isn't cloud-cuckoo-land thinking), but it's not really entertaining.

Passionate about both still. England have a lot of friendlies and the Nations League is a joke but when it comes to major tournaments I am as invested as I am with City. I like the fact that the whole nation can come together to celebrate their wins. There's a feel good factor that just catches everyone and it's amazing. With City when we lose it's harder to take though because it's more of a tribal thing and a rival bunch of fans are right there to give you stick.

International football used to be the pinnacle where the best players got together to play in the best team. It was something special.

But football has changed. Team tactics have evolved into an almost art form, now, and with the various playing styles here, it isn't a game where you can put 11 good players together and get a better team any more.

So, basically, it's crap. I think I have been spoiled watching City develop over the last ten years. Other games just don't hold any interest for me, if I am being honest. No more watching every game I can to see how good the other teams are. None of them are as good as City so what's the point?

City 100%

As someone in their 60's I remember England just picking rag players because they are rags.
Pundits would say players need to move to the dippers or rags to improve their international chances.

It was all about the rags and dippers getting the 'best' players.

Plus I dont get how you could be watching rodney, Gerrard etc spending the whole match trying to injury or get one of our players sent off. Than the following weekend support them. Not a bloody chance.

I completely lost interest with England within a couple of years of us being taken over by Sheikh Mansour and CFG. Not many neutral journalists give us a fair crack so why should I devote support to the national side.
