I have just got back from Rome playing in a Walking Football tournament. While I was there I only drank Espresso. I had almost forgotten how lovely it is.

Indeed. Good espresso is one of the most beautiful and complex drinks ever invented.

…Bad espresso can be like drinking charcoal mixed with battery acid.

I’m not quite obsessed enough / addicted to go fully down the rabbit hole. But I do love an aeropress and beans from the local roaster. Take the aeropress with me on my travels and try to get some local beans wherever I land.

Only a *few places I'd consider getting a good espresso in Manchester.
Which is why all the big chains mask it with pints of hot milk.

*likely many good ones tbf. There's been an explosion of good coffee shops in Manchester over the past couple of years.
Harder in the burbs but Urmston/Flixton/Gatley/Cheadle et al have all seen at least one decent spot recently (just off the top of my head).

Yellowhammer over in Stockport is great too.

Nice coffee is one of the few things i get a buzz over.

Yellowhammer is a great place. Their pastries and sandwiches are top notch as well.

If you’re in the Stockport area I encourage you to make a detour to Kobean in Heaton Moor. A brilliant little roastery that unsurprisingly serves excellent coffee. I buy most of our beans from there.

Stomping Ground round the corner is very good too.

One of the best little inventions, I love mine. For two simple little bits of plastic it brews quite outstanding coffee and it’s very easy to play around with brewing recipes with it.

Search “aeropress dice” !

Aeropress recipe tweaking is a deep rabbit hole.

A good quality grinder makes a huge difference.
