I wouldn't know if Colin Bell was at the final or not. I do know he is the greatest City player I've ever seen and an absolute gentleman who shuns the limelight.

Simple fact is Franny Lee sacked Colin Bell and then proceeded to drag his name through the mud hence the Tribunal which was eventually settled out of court in Colin Bell's favour. This messy business did our club no favours at the time.

Franny Lee also sacked Tony Book but sent Bernard Halford along to do the dirty deed for him.

Colin Bell attended a meeting in Swinton a few years ago and went down a bomb and was loved by all.

Franny Lee attended a meeting in Swinton when he was chairman and didn't hesitate to insult some supporters by calling them stupid etc.

Colin Bell, absolute gentleman and legend.

Franny Lee, great footballer, successful businessman, lousy chairman and not such a wonderful human being.

Thats my recollection of it all to and couldnt agree more with your last sentance. Colin to his credit has been very humble over the years and apart from the tribunal, has kept his council.

Before you start slagging king colin prestwich blue, way up the facts - 'petty little grudges over nothing' is very wide of the mark.
Franny shit on Colin and that was disgraceful!
Not my job to hold this against Franny, a great city legend - but i have utter respect for the way Colin has handled this, with upmost dignity.

I've met Colin on a number of occasions and he's a quiet and modest man. I also know enough about Franny Lee to agree that he isn't always a wonderful human being. But he sacked Bell (and the other two youth coaches) because they spent more time bickering with each other (and moaning to him) than they did coaching and they weren't a good team and didn't work well together.

So Lee, after having a third party cast an eye over the set-up, sacked all three and started again. He had the absolute right to do that and Colin Bell thinks he was owed some special treatment even though the quiet man he was and the brash Lee were never bosom buddies.

I think Lee could undoubtedly have handled it better but shit happens in life. There's lots of people I could hold grudges against but don't because I like to think I'm bigger than that.

As our club has hopefully left the days of shitty owners behind, I'd just like to see this one feud ended.
