Colon wall thickening in CT Scan

They should give you a full report on what they've seen. They'll then move on to 'next actions' and set out a plan for any future treatment required. Hopefully, you'll be 100% OK and back on form!

Don't worry yourself by reading Internet shite. You're in the best hands with the NHS, just follow their instructions and you'll be fine.

All the best!

@roy.or.r is based in the USA from what I recall.

Unless there is a contribution from a member who lives relatively close to him, it might be worth posting this query on an American based forum.

Thanks for the responses. I gave scheduled a colonoscopy this Friday and this will be my first. Will the doctors tell me immediately after the procedure if they find something sinister?
I had one earlier this year and they tell you as they go. I also got a detailed report on the same day and also posted out to me.

I had gas and air and whilst it was uncomfortable, it’s not hugely painful.

Good luck with everything.

Big Hypocondriac, I am.
Doc says something like that, my mind would be a machine gun.

In the end though worrying doesn't do any good,
At worst you suffer twice, at best you suffer needlessly.

Take the posters prior advice, its mostly likely an age thing. Hang in there blue.
Thanks. I am 33 so I don’t know how common it is to have colonoscopy in my age.

I am in the US. So no idea how it works here. I didn’t even get a referral. I just scheduled it.

A colonoscopy is only like having a camera down your throat just to see whats going on. Things go wrong with people at any age.
It could be loads of things.
Go to a GP and explain whats happened he/she will probably send you to a specialist who will investigate and tell you what is going on.
Your in the USA so I'm assuming you have insurance. Things get done very quickly when private.

FWIW..I am a retired GP..recently separated from my wife now living with my parents in Congleton..the stress of the situation made me lose quite some weight..I started to get abdominal pain and noticed a mass in my abdomen..I have a nephew who is a surgeon at Whiston Hospital who got me looked at rapidly by a colleague of his.Their care was immense.
So had an urgent CT scan..showed much the same as yours..thickened bowel, increased vascularity, swollen lymph nodes.Unfortunately the CT showed other stuff but another story.. So urgent colonoscopy. Anyway the procedure was painless and yes they told me their findings immediately..it was diverticulitis and not cancer. They did take biopsies but all fine. If you have colitis, readily treatable.
If you wish to PM please do so if it helps. Am at a funeral today so may not respond until tomorrow. I am sure you will be fine.

If they find something suspicious during the colonoscopy they will tell you there and then. They might take a sample for a biopsy, or call in a specialist for a second opinion. Don't worry too much about the actual procedure, it's uncomfortable but bearable. You should be offered a valium shot (or similar) before and gas and air during if needed. I've found that the worst part of the process is taking the prep fluids and laxatives beforehand, and the resulting bowel quake after!
As a veteran of two colonoscopies earlier this year, I concur completely. If the OP can get past the minor embarrassment of being sat with fellow patients in nothing but a surgical gown for an hour and a half, the procedure itself is a breeze; quick and painless. I do though identify with the acute anxiety while awaiting a diagnosis. I was an absolute wreck, though we all react differently to what life throws at us. If, like me, the OP is a born worrier, kind words from others will go a long way to reassuring him and this, for me, is where BM comes into its own. Incidentally, I received the all clear after minor surgery.
