Colonoscopy

I had a sigmoidoscopy in September which diagnosed Divertcula, removed a polyp and the biopsy has come back as Tubular Adenoma with low grade dysplasia now have to go and have a Colonoscopy in Novemeber to check if anything else there, hopefully routine but still have those nagging feelings
What’s divertcula? Never heard of that mate. Sorry to ask

Hope he’s ok mate
Cheers mate, he gets his results in 2-5 days tomorrow is day 3 he’s stressing they mentioned what they saw looked like a mass in his anal canal just hoping it’s not sinister.

So I mentioned my uncle had a colonoscopy Tuesday and would get a call with results of a biopsy in 2-5 days well he got a call yesterday morning saying he’s been booked in for an mri scan Monday morning 9 am. Doesn’t sound very good that to me, they never mentioned his results just this scan.

It could still be all ok, mate. The not knowing is far worse mentally. Whatever the result, the likelihood is that it is easily treatable.

Ive got diverticula disease too and it’s just random and annoying. Its like getting a really bad stitch when stuff gets stuck in the little extra pockets.

Try not to think about the worst case scenario. All it does is make you anxious. (I also recognise that it’s easier said than done.)

Wishing you luck though. I have a check up tomorrow morning, 9 months after my last results, and no, I wasn’t pregnant…

9 years ago I had (unknown to me) Diverticulitis that resulted in a tear in the colon. From a feeling of a bad stomach ache on Day 1 to emergency life saving surgery on Day 9 followed by 10 days in HDU and 14 days on a ward in the pit that is North Manchester. Left with a stoma for 18 months that was thankfully reversed in the Royal Oldham. The NHS surgeons, doctors and nurses were superb as were some HCA's but some, like anywhere I suppose, needed to find themselves a new career not involving the public, particularly ill ones.

I'm left with multiple small hernias, significant open surgery scarring but my system works fine, though I dread to think what order it is in inside me.

After all that never had a colonoscopy though I'm not a fan of the MRI.
