Been for a wander round Birmingham this afternoon. Most decent restaurants open, most decent pubs closed.
Know quite a few decent operators who say they're delaying by a week, to see what happens. Sensible, if you can afford it.
Only one pub I spotted, the Briar Rose, with a queue outside it. Certainly much quieter than a normal Saturday afternoon.
Going to be a long road back, I fear.
I’ve had no inclination to go to a pub today. Round here in Gorton I expected it to be a free for all in most boozers with zero social distancing and little intent from most landlords to impose guidelines. Maybe I’m being overly harsh but I bumped into a neighbour when walking the dog this morning and while we were chatting he got a text off a mate saying the Lord Raglan on Ashton Old Road was hammered. I just can’t see local pubs in many working class areas being geared up for this. City centre pubs are different altogether, plus they’ll have plenty of eyes on them to make sure they’re complying.
