If anyone receives a call from somebody saying that the bank has overcharged you and a legal document / pack will be sent out once you have gave him a few details then under no terms should you do so. From what I could gather, it was a scam. He mentioned barclaycard but he said prior that he would not require any bank details and shortly after (about 5 minutes) asked for the long number on my card. He phoned back once I terminated the call saying and I quote "I just want to be your friend!", very professional!

Just thought I'd warn you to be careful at this time. They will know your surname, but not your first name aside from the starting letter. Do not give them your first name, do not give them your age. Tell them jack shit! Ask them for the bank to charge the outstanding fees straight back into your own account.

From what I understand you are not required to sign any legal pack to do so this. If anyone can clarify this that'd be great.

Any stories regarding phone calls like this would be greatly appreciated.

ANOTHER SCAM

A text message is sent to your home number. These texts messages are translated from text into spoken word (if you don't have a phone that accepts text). The spoken text message is garbled. At the end of the spoken text message there is a clear announcement asking you to dial a mobile number number for confirmation of the message. To return a call to that mobile number will cost you lots of dosh!!

A colleague the other day, had a pack sent to her saying her bank owed her over £500. Fill in the forms, including ALL bank acc details and return with a cheque for £55 and they would get her money back ! We told her, go to bank with the letter, if they do it would cost her nought to get the money back. If not then it's a police matter.

does anyone have the link to the radio wind up that was on here a few months ago. it went along the lines of a cold calling salesman being told he was wanted as an accessory for murder ???

cant remember the name of the thread
