As people correctly posted before the game, having beaten Sunderland we're now actually 2 points better off compared to the equivalent games last season (substituting results against the relegated teams last season for those against the newly promoted ones this season).

But how are our main competitors doing?

Chelsea are best off with a net 8 point gain.
Arsenal, like us, have picked up an extra 2 points.
Spurs have exactly the same points.
The rags have actually dropped 1 point on last season.

Edit: Everton, despite their superb start, are only 2 points up. Surprising that.

So far, so good.

West Brom will also hopefully yield two more points compared to last season. It's a huge opportunity.

To me, its more important that we finally played well with good passing and movement approaching the box.

However, still haven't seen a really good counterattack this season which is where we thrived in those 5-1's and 6-1's. Seems like we always slow the attack down and pass backwards.

We're doing pretty well .....

i do think there's gonna be much more of a challenge coming in from Chelsea and Arsenal though , this season , and the rags certainly won't give it up ..... it's up to us to stay in touch , and come out on top of the pile.

You are unlikely to ever see the counter-attacking again....not to the same extent anyway

At the start of last season we hammered teams playing that way, and everyone learned to keep men behind the ball when playing City. That has its pluses and minuses

I thought City played well at Fulham too.

Here in the USA, after the match on ESPN they interviewed Bobby and he was asked if the Sunderland match was the first time all year that we had really played like champions. He smiled and said "Maybe the second". The announcer paused, kind of surprised, and then asked when the first had been. Bobby smiled and said "Fulham".

Slowly but surely, it is coming together. I want 9 more points out of the next three games, and see where that puts us heading into the holiday season.

I am really really afraid of Chelsea this season. We will have to defeat them home and away to stand a chance of winning the title. United and Arsenal will at the wayside near the end of the season. It will be only us and Chelsea challenging.
