Not had one for years, but all this talk of jobs on here made me remember.

Is there a lazier way for any company to hire someone than these cliched wastes of time and oxygen? Usually so someone with no knowledge of the job can do the interview, and then give the job to someone equally clueless.

I'd like to travel back in time and politely advise whoever came up with them to stick their idea up with their dettol wipes.

i can't interview for fuck, but not had one myself for 26years. My then boss asked me if i'd shagged my gf in my car what THF? took me 10 years to get the company. Never asked that in an interview yet, taken on some right space cadets mind.

That's Bollux UH. Examples of past behaviour are a clearly established pointer to how someone will behave in the post being applied for and the interviewer has to have a detailed knowledge of the job in order to formulate the questions.
So " can you tell me about a time when ..............." is a much better question to tease out whether the applicant is the best for the job, than for e.g. "what would you do if ..........." or "do you play golf" , "which papers do you read" (or even "what's it like to shag your GF in the car")
Now, where DID I put those Dettol wipes?

I hate these but it looks like everyone is using these now.

But I have found that the questions are usually the same or similar. So I have got a load written down at home with good answers and try to memorise it before an interview.

Which just goes to show how shit they are could basically go to the person with the best memory.

If you prepare well before the interview & follow the priciples of this you should be OK:

<a class="postlink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SOARA" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SOARA</a>

Speak to the person doing the interview in advance & find out what the competencies are going to be. Then have at least 2 examples prepared for each one in case they don't like the fist one you give them.
