I've submitted a follow up complaint so if I'm not happy with the response, I think we can then escalate it.
Good on you PB!

Good stuff. As I said, we can escalate if we're not happy with the second response. Let's play it by the book so they've got no excuses.Dear Ms Tsang
Thank you for your reply to my complaint
I found your answer to be lacking in sincerity and, quite frankly, implausible.
You say that not one person in your football department knows the term “Bertie”. I am not often as direct as this but I am calling you out as a liar or completely gullible. If it is the latter I feel you should not be working in such a prominent position and if it is the former you should be disciplined.
This post was made by a United fan towards a City supporter as a deliberate bullying tactic. You know it, I know it. Your organisation’s sickly fawning and over exposure of documentaries with a Manchester United theme tells you all you need to know. If you think this will go away with a generic response that attempts to placate and fob off at the same time you are mistaken. I feel I should share with you that fan groups of Manchester City are deeply repelled with both your feeble generic responses to our concerns as we are to the original cyber bullying of a thoroughly decent person and have no intention of letting this go away until the truth is disclosed. Please could you provide the details of the agency from whom you purchased the photograph?
I also asked in my original complaint how I complain to the Director General. You failed to deal with this in your rush to provide a generic response. Consequently I wish to both escalate my original complaint so that somebody will answer who is prepared to tell the truth and provide a detailed response and I also wish to make a new complaint against you for failing to disclose the information I requested.
Good stuff. As I said, we can escalate if we're not happy with the second response. Let's play it by the book so they've got no excuses.
I think the response needs to be that ignorance is no excuse & the BBC should pride itself on having its finger on the pulse when communicating to the world. This incident has ridiculed & more importantly made a vulnerable man who is easily identifiable a target of football fans by calling him a derogatory term.
Importantly how will you make amends & how will you ensure this never happens again.
If ignorance really is the truth then please do not allow your hacks to comment on anything as there are cultural differences that may not be as forgiving.
You lying twats!

Don't know I'm sure somebody possibly pb said it'd been used before and also that the wording from bertie and been changed afterwards on the MOTD post.
The impression I had was that it was an older picture bought caption-less and used on an earlier day as well.
Pb is like a dog with a bone so I guess it'll all come out eventually.

No mention of his name, real or dubbed either and certainly no congrats for his long support or the 'mirrored' comments from bluesIf it is of any help in your escalation, the agency that holds copyright of the image in question appears to be Press Association images. I’ve raised your complaint with our team at BBC Sport and they’ve asked me to pass their response onto you:
“Simon attended the event on business for BBC Sport, and received no personal benefit for his attendance. In our view, coverage of the event was clearly editorially justified given the continued commercial growth of United and the story around it.
“The BBC takes its responsibility to the editorial guidelines extremely seriously, but there will always be occasions where we cover a commercial event because it offers an editorial value to our audience.”
We’re sorry that you’ve had cause for concern.
Kind regards

just had a response to complaint #2 (of 4) re Simon Stone attending a commercial launch event for Tag Heuer at The Etihad. And guess what? It's another load of bullshit. I queried why the BBC were tweeting images from a launch event and effectively advertising on behalf of one of the rags' sponsors when there was no newsworthy element that I could see.
Katherine's going to be sick of me before long.
Is there a screen shot of what they did ? I haven't seen it yet PBI've submitted a follow up complaint so if I'm not happy with the response, I think we can then escalate it.
