If your computer has come with McAfee , then why not use it until it expires (probably in 12 months time)??

It's probably as good as most anti-virus , and will be better than AVG's FREE version , which you've downloaded ...... although some say it hogs resources , like Norton does , whilst others reckon that it doesn't.

If you want a good free one Microsoft Security Essentials is probably the best around right now ....... if , on the other hand , you do want to pay for one , Nod 32 or Kaspersky are about as good as it gets ..... neither misses much , although Nod 32 is probably easier to set in motion on your computer , and last time i looked both were running trial versions , try before you buy!

The free Malwarebytes is alright , although it has missed things on my computer ........ things that the free version of SUPERAntispyware didn't!

Don't run two anti-virus programs together at the same time , and remember ... ANY free version of ANY anti-virus is usually 'limited' in what it can achieve , so don't expect perfection ..... that's why they try to get you to 'upgrade' you to the paid versions of their product , which they claim will detect more.

Thanks for all the replies. I appreciate it, bit out of my comfort zone on this one so just want to make sure I'm as best protected as possible!
