Concourse Singing

...as for concourse singing....it was fantastic v QPR in May 2012. Many of our friends from West London looking over towards 110 and seeming to ask "how many do you have in there?"

We need an Ultra Group of Singers called 'Concourse Beer & Marching Powder'.

If only there was as much enthusiasm when the game is on.

Tonight?

City sang throughout the 1st half. Loads of different songs. A few oldies as well. Love the clap, clap, clap City chant that used to be sung in the 70's. The 2nd half wasn't as good, but it wasn't bad, especially the Dias chant that went on for 10 minutes at the end of the match.

Peaked on 30 April 2012 at the Etihad for the derby. Can’t remember a concourse atmosphere like it since.

Not tonight. I was thinking about home games.

It’s for YouTube and Instagram likes… phones out, jump around and sing, post it on social media and get a load of likes from other clubs’ concourse crews.

A bit shit, not something I like taking part in, but I don’t mind it too much when we’re good in the stands like we have been away from home this season.

However, it does me fucking swede in when the phones-out-concourse-crew are bouncing around at half time but are too shy to sing in the stands and it’s deathly quiet while the game is going on.

To be fair I’m in 115 and it’s always the same young lads who like to give it large on the concourse, who are the ones who sing the most in the stands.

love singing on the concourse only if it’s followed up in the stands
Also quite like the Dias chant. I came up with my own copying wolves chant for Neves. A bit late now like….

We’ve got Dias, Ruben Dias. I just don’t think you understand. He’s better than the shite, they call virg van dijk… we’ve got Ruben Dias

The concourse singing is take-it-or-leave-it for me, and personally I find the Dias song to be symptomatic of all the modern repetitive unimaginative football chants (but that's just me being a grumpy old git)

What irritated me far more at Vicarage Road was the one way system for the gents which seemed to involve gangs of selfish smokers and cokeheads using the entry, but not the exit, as genuine law abiding City fans stood frustrated in the subsequent bottleneck.

An oldie but goldie was sung over and over during yesterdays game.
"If I did on the Kippax Street,
There'll be 10 red bastards at my feet"!!!
Nice to hear new songs, but also great to hear the old ones as well.
I actually joined in at one point. The good lady looked at me as if I had gone mad and asked how I knew it. When I explained that we used to sing it before football was invented she nodded in appreciation. Still best not to join in when you’re in your own house I suppose you could argue.
