If a rag player died and we were due to play later that day, you wouldn't want our game called off?
Yes I would want our game called off. Would you want our game to be played? If so I have no respect for you at all.

It is a mickey mouse comp an no one would have missed it if it wa cancelled.

They carried on playing the match and all following matches, forcing his team mates to carry on in the competition.

When Phill O'Donnell died games were cancelled out of respect, nothing was done in this competition as money would be lost.

I think your being abit OTT and scouse esque. The competition is deisgned as a dummy run for the biggest sporting event on earth. If anything goes wrong then they have a year to fix it, plus it's football in the middle of June, it's a godsend for those who miss it after 2 weeks on no football.

No one forced anyone to play, if the Cameroon side wanted to opt out of playing then they would of done. They carried on as a mark of respect to their team mate. If we went around cancelling and quitting something everytime there was a tradegy there would be no games left to play.

2003 When Foe died, no world cup after that.

No one cares who wins this, they should just have called it off out of respect.

Everyone was told to carry on by FIFA to "show football is strong". It would have been a bigger show of strength to write this shite off.

On the pitch it doesn't mean much but off the pitch it does.

Off the pitch?

It is a filler and nothing more.

It is up there with the Shamrock and Thomas Cook Trophies...

It used to be a filler but not anymore, it is a preperation tournament. South Africa has never hosted a major football competition ever before. They only get on average around 8,000 people a game to their domestic league. Next June they are hosting the biggest sporting event on this planet where they have to cater for 40-50,000 fans a game and many more tourist. This tournament whilst worthless on the pitch is very valuable off the pitch as it gives the South African's a chance to test out their hosting abilities from hotels, transport, official routes for the teams to crowd control and police hooligism strategies.

If the players of the 2003 tournament wanted to pull out then they would of done and it would of been cancelled, but they wanted to play on in respect of their late teammate.

Only problem with this idea is that the stadium today was less than half full.
