Confirmed: Ferran Torres signs 5 year contract

Chill your jets lol I understand how the media can manipulate and twist a story but it’s rarely ever done with direct quotes.

But they weren’t direct quotes. They were out of context. Oooops now where have I heard that before?

Seriously though, if you read what actually happened at the club & how they treated him, it is not how it’s been reported. For a start, he said he wanted to be one of the captains at his boyhood club (not the captain)

I did read what happened and that’s why I stated clearly in my post that Valencia were dicks if they told him he is their 5th choice, wasn’t depended upon and offered him to clubs in Spain - I even said I believe he’ll act professionally at City and that we will treat him well. Even with that context, if the quotes are accurate he should have kept shtum.

I fail to see the relevance if it’s ‘the’ captain or ‘a’ captain - a 20 year old shouldn’t be making that part of a contract negotiation. The manager will decide who is captain, failing that the players.

IF. Also, see interview in above post - to which I referred earlier

When Spanish players refer to ‘captains’ (plural) they mean senior players, main men and dressing room leaders. Not literally the man who wears the armband and calls heads or tails. Even Pep has used this terminology on several occasions when referring to Silva, De Bruyne, Ferna etc. There isn’t really an equivalent English word in this context.
Whether the media accidentally or wilfully mistranslated this is a matter of conjecture but it’s pretty pathetic for some blues to already be slagging the kid over this. You are doing exactly what some of them want you to do

You miss the point. His ambition was to be one of the great leaders of his boyhood club. But they messed him about because they saw £££££ signs. You need to watch the interviews with him such as this one - (its a bit long!)- sees a grounded guy to me. Focused and grounded

Really like the look of him. He looks like a mix of Son and De Bruyne. He should get shitloads of assists, his crossing looks world class

It’s just occurred to me that Ferran and Phil are of a similar age, which means that they might well strike up a firm friendship off the pitch.

That can only be a good thing.
