Congratulations

Proud to be a Blue. Proud of the ovation he got at the start, proud of the respect he showed for us, proud of the polite applause after Richard scored and really impressed by his overall Man of the match performance.

Some Villa and Arsenal fans need to take notes.

Now don't get me wrong, I respect Dunnie to the hilt and don't have a bad word to say about him.

I love the way he did not celebrate and equally the applause he got from us after hes scored.

However, to the start chanting his name after the goal is just wrong. Regardless of how much we still love the guy, he had just scored for the opposition!

I disagree...we are in a good place right now, and even when we go a goal down early in a game we are usually pretty chilled out, because we know we've got goals in the side, ...generally now when we go a goal behind, rather than descending into moans and groans, there's usually a resounding "come on city, come on city chant"

So when Dunnie stuck one in for them, whilst the instant reaction would have been disappointment, we quickly saw the opportunity to have a bit of a laugh, and sing his name.

The result, showed the bitter Villa fans, and the rest of the world, that we value our legends, and that we like a laugh.

We seem to instinctively know the right thing to do, and we haven't lost our soul.. the Dunnie celebration will go down in folklore like the Silence at the swamp.

Well done everyone

I chuckled, actually as I thought it was with more than a hint of irony that the City sung this. We're renowned for our 'black' humour and to me, it was nothing more than that.
Chill, everyone. It was inevitable Dunney Monster would pop one in, the fans knew it and so why not sing for him....for a giggle! And also out of a little respect to the guy as opposed to the barracking and boo-ing from the Villa towards Barry.

Totaly agree. I think we all knew it was gonna happen. I was gutted but you had to see the irony, fair play to him.

Fair play to him. City obviously meant so much to him that he was determined to put in a man of the match type performance to prove a point.
By all means boo players who left under a cloud or took the mick whilst with us. Although prone to the occasional error, he always gave 100%

LOL They did...just craply printed ones on cheap paper ;p... wow that guy looked sad!

The simple fact of the matter is .......

Villa fans who abused Gareth Barry are today being portrayed by all and sundry , and even some of their own fans , as c*nts .........

City fans who applauded Dunne and sang his name , even though he'd just scored against his former club , are being portrayed as class.

We did ourselves no harm at all ....... and it's things like this that sets City fans apart from the also-rans.
