controversial opinions - off topic version

Jack Nicholson's performance in Chinatown was ordinary.

Destiny's Child was better when four of them were in it.

Ten Storey Love Song is one of the worst songs I've ever heard.

Animal porn is not as digusting as everyone says it is.

Raiders of the lost ark is rather abysmal.

I will joking about the animal porn.

Being a member of our armed forces does not make someone a hero.

The national news should stop feeling obliged to report every military death ('a British soldier has been killed in Helmand Province') unless something exceptional has happened.

Why not? Like I'm not English and I've no strong opinion on the war whatsoever. I'm not too bother, but like, you as an English man, you don't think that a death of a young soldier serving your country doesn't justify a few minutes, usually seconds, mention on the news? Unless the death is due to something exceptional?

The British military are under a lot of scrutiny because of the recent report on Bloody Sunday and I mean fuck it those British soldiers well like I'll not get into my opinion on the British millitarty, but like I guess it's different times, but I suppose for me, anyone who is out in Helmand deserves a bit of respect, but like I said, I'm not English and ye'd know a bit more about it than I would.

Initially I thought that, and if there is a slow news day then fair enough but I get the feeling that the mainstream media feel obliged to report it. It's as if there would be uproar if say the BBC simply didn't report it on the 10 o'clock news and no mainstream media wants to risk the flak they'd get.

It happens nearly every day it seems. Someone dying in a car crash isn't in the national news every day so why should a soldier dying be in there every day? I'll be honest, at first I paid attention but now every time I hear them start talking about another young soldier dying I switch off either mentally or literally.

I'd no doubt feel differently if I knew someone out there, but reports on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan bore me now and I think I speak for a lot of people even if they won't admit it when I say that.

Just being honest in the 'Controversial Opinions' thread.
