Cook - They Bottled It

We wanted Kaka...Milan said he's for sale, lets discuss...we go over there with an offer...Milan say, come back next week, we'll agree the fee, then you can talk to the player...we arrive, Milan start procrastinating (and probably start asking for more money)

And how is Milan saying "so how much will you pay then?" either procrastinating or asking for more money?

WE didn't table a bloody offer did we, so how it can be positioned that THEY weren't serious is beyond me. Yes they had cold feet, but that doesn't necessarily mean there was no deal to be had. If that was the case, why would they even have met us? They could have phoned up and said "sorry he's not for sale and he's committed to the club, don't bother coming". That would have been even better for them. But they didn't do that, did they. They met us to hear our offer. And we decided not to make one.

Its plain to me that WE got colder feet than them.

“It also involved a board member who had flown half way around the world from Abu Dhabi....."
A slight exaggeration there from Cooky, but I'll let him off!!

I dont think we were talking about the "environment"...but that meeting was meant to be about the vision, the aspirations of the club and how Kaka was to be integrated into that...to benefit HIS profile as well as ours

Yes they his father wanted to talk personal deals like wage etc and Cookie didn't have an answer obviously since he said no personal terms were discussed

Mark & Anton....

Cook also believes that money was more important to Kaka's representatives than the possibility of becoming a part of Manchester City's plans to be a major force in world football.

"The agenda we thought we were on was about Kaka coming on a journey with this club but at the end the only journey they were on was a fiscal one," he added.

"We'll continue on our journey but he won't be a part of it. Deals with the greatest players are more than complex.

"We got to talk to Kaka's father. His father said he was very interested in the project and we talked about humanitarian potential factors but when we got into discussions those issues took a back seat and financial demands came to the fore."

im sorry, but that is embarrassing. kaka to join city to be a part of the "project", do me a favour. it was only ever about the money!

I don't believe that. The man worships god and his faith comes above everything else, if it was money he'd have been here last week.

And he doesn't mind everyone knowing about it and engaging in (staged) public acts does he? Did you read his public statement after the deal fell through? Disturbing.

Where the FUCK did you get that we didn't table an offer?????????????????????

Doesn't really matter does it at the end of the day? Mind games aside, the fact of the matter is he is not coming to the club, that's the be all and end all. The other details are irrelevant and we should move on!
