There is a lot for governments to do. However what do bluemooners do to help on their little patch of earth - the future will in reality depend on many small individual actions to help Governments on an international scale. I never cut my front hedge until the nesting chicks have fledged. I leave my lawns un cut for winter as they provide a place for bugs to flourish ( and play their part in the food chain ) and I am sensitively trimming the back garden foliage this winter so there is a habitat for wildlife in future. I have stacked a few logs for hibernating mammals in winter and keep the bird feeders topped up. Come the frosts I will see to it that fresh unfrozen water is available for bird in the trees and animals on the ground. I love where I live and nurture the nature that surrounds me - I have no idea why someone would not do the same.
