Corner shop

similar thing for me. on stretford road/birchall way near the hulme bridge theres a two shops next to each other, one with a post office one without.in the one without the bloke behind the till never says anything and i always make the effort to say hello, plase, thank you etc. next door in the post office the man is a lot friendlier which is why i only go in there now. hate going into a shop and i feel like im inconveniencing the man who runs it! fuck him if he doesnt want my money plenty of others do.

Just went into my local shop with a stinking hangover and got a few bits.

Normally I'll say nothing and just pay, most days I go in there buy my fags and a paper and do one and the ignorant bastard never says thank you, please or fuck all.

Anyway went in there this morning with my hangover and decided I was going to say something if this twat didn't have any manners. So I got my bits and this nobhead didn't even offer me a bag, so I said ' can I have a bag mate' and he literally threw a bag at me!!

Fuck this, so I said you can keep your fucking bag and keep the rest of your fucking shit (that i was trying to buy) and fuck off and I'm not coming im here again until you learn a few fucking manners, to which he replied ' sorry sir but you come in here every day and i don't think i have to be nice to you!'.

ycnmiu, anyway took me 20 mins to walk to the nearest shop and i'm not fucking happy,

rant over, got me fags and shit now but what a cheeky ****,

I dont want much but surely a thank you or a please isnt asking too much?

If you go in every day then he gets a fair bit of money off you doesn't he?

I work in a shop and I have to say I fucking hate the general public, the vast majority of them are complete knobheads, but at the end of the day, they pay my wages.

It costs fuck all to be nice and polite,
It brings a bigger smile to my face when, just by being polite to someone else that it brings a smile to their face,
Theres a time to be miserable, that times when your tucked up in a wooden box.

Not being funny or anything, but are you mannerly to him? Honestly? By your own admission, "Normally I'll say nothing and just pay,". Ever tried a 'good morning' or a 'how are you' or a 'alright mate'. If you have, fair enough. You were perfectly correct in pointing out his lack of manners. It's something which has crept into society this past x years, and I hate it. I was brought up to say 'please' and 'thank you', to hold doors open for the next person, to give up my seat on the bus to ladies or the elderly etc etc. That seems to be dying out now.

You're correct Jim lad.

Reminds me of a time I was on the bus and it was fairly busy(one or two seats left open). Anyway, there's this lad sat down, taking up the seats with his bag, when this old dear gets on. She's stood in front of him and he sees her, but ignores on her. The bus pulls away. I can feel my blood begin boil as we go past a stop. As I'm sat behind him(I'm being hemmed in), I lean over and says in his ear..

"Are you having a laugh? Where's your manners in offering this lady a seat? So why don't you just try being a gent?!". He looks all sheepish and moves his bag, so she could sit down.

I have no problem telling today's society about their forgotten 'manners'.

Living in M20 myself, I'm curious which shop it is.
Iffy's (genuine name) by the Red Lion?
Having known IFFY and BIG SID for nearly 20 years i would be surprised if it was them,if it was that shop in the first place.Maybe one of the RAGAMUFFINS that sometimes work there part time?

Alright mate, i say as i walk into my corner shop most mornings. My Asian bretheren never says anything back (not sure if he actually speaks English) but i always try and the silence does'nt bother me. But if his 80 yr old ganny does'nt stop following me round that shop waiting for me nick something i fooking swear i'll, aaaarrrrgggghhh !!!!!!!
