My grandma has had a letter today saying that she has an Ophthalmology appointment on the 15th.

The only thing is is that it’s a telephone appointment. It doesn’t even say why, but we can only surmise it is a follow up appointment to having her cataracts done 18 months ago.

Do I need to make one of those letter chart things? How can you have an eye test over the phone?
Christ knows, I don’t doubt it’s been rotten for them working through it all.. But eye tests and physio over the phone, Balmy

ENGLAND HOSPITAL DATA

ADMISSIONS - THESE ARE FROM TUESDAY REMEMBER (48 hours old)

LAST TUE // THIS TUESDAY

818 //798

So down week to week

By regions (LAST TUESDAY V THIS TUESDAY) :-

LONDON 165 V 141

MIDLANDS 157 V 148

NE & YORKSHIRE 149 V 159

AND

NORTH WEST 122 V 121

So NW admitted the least of the four big regions again BUT only down 1 week to week. NE & Yorkshire UP week to week.

ENGLAND HOSPITAL DATA

PATIENTS

THIS DATA IS FOR TODAY

6186 - DOWN 50 ON DAY FROM 6236

Last week the equivalent numbers were

5893 - DOWN 29 ON DAY FROM 5922

WEEK TO WEEK: Rise of 293 (down from rise of 314 yesterday) FROM 5893 to 6186.

Previous week Rise of 339 FROM 5554 to 5893

So pretty flat numbers as you can see

BY REGIONS

Today - Up/Down Today V Last Week - Up/down over week

LONDON 1203 - DOWN 33 V 1189 - UP 14

MIDLANDS 1226 - DOWN 39 V 1180 - UP 46

NE & YORKSHIRE 1136 - DOWN 18 V 1108 - UP 28

AND

NORTH WEST 962 - UP 38 V 889 - UP 73

SADLY AS YOU CAN SEE EVERYWHERE DOWN TODAY AND LOWERED THEIR RISE WEEK TO WEEK EXCEPT THE NW WHICH IS NOW UP BY THE MOST AND AT RISK OF TOPPING !000 PATIENTS FOR FIRST TIME IN MONTHS

THE NORTH WEST HAS HAD A FEW BAD DAYS NOW AND ARE STARTING TO BECOME THE PROBLEM IN HOSPITALS AGAIN.

NEEDS CAREFUL WATCHING

The other smaller regions week to week to today

East up from 492 to 532 today (down 3 on day)

South East up from 592 to 657 today (up 5 on day)

And South West up from 443 to 471 today (level on day)

These smaller regions are rising too now. But none did as badly as the NW today in terms of rising patient numbers in past 24 hours.

Headline:- Numbers rising but NOT increasing by much week to week. North West starting to become a little cause for concern. .

ENGLAND HOSPITAL DATA

VENTILATORS

THIS DATA IS FOR TODAY

897 - UP 7 FROM 890 YESTERDAY

Last week the same days were:

872 - UP 1 FROM 871

UP 25 week to week today V UP 19 wk to wk yesterday

Last week the wk to wk from the previous Wednesday was UP 37.

By regions (TODAY V LAST WEDNESDAY) :-

LONDON 226 (up 1) V 212- UP 14 in week

MIDLANDS 180 (down 1) V 178 - UP 2 in week

NE & YORKSHIRE 142 (up 7) V 147 - DOWN 5 in week

AND

NORTH WEST 115 (Down 6) V 117 - DOWN 2 in week

SADLY A LOT OF DEATHS REPORTED BY NW TODAY SO THIS MAY BE WHY NUMBERS FELL.
GOOD TO SEE A WEEK TO WEEK DROP RESTORED AND STILL THE LOWEST OF THE BIG REGIONS.

BUT THOSE PATIENT NUMBERS TODAY DO NOT BODE TOO WELL FOR FURTHER FALLS SOON.

The other regions LAST WEEK V TODAY

East down 3 at 71 TO 86 - UP 15 - Not good here

South East up 2 from 83 to 86 - UP 3

And South West down 5 to 64 to 62 - DOWN 2

These numbers di fluctuate quite a bit so no immediate panic on the North West numbers.

Prof Neil Ferguson on the return to school in England starting this week:

"We expect to see quite a significant surge in cases, to some extent in hospitalisations, but whether that's going to require any rolling back of the relaxation of restrictions is too early to say. It really depends on the level of healthcare demand.”
Oh good, that probably means the impact will be negligible.
In my opinion, this man has done so much damage the reputation of science. Others will have a different opinion, but hey each to their own.

NW AND GREATER MANCHESTER HIGHLIGHTS

NW up on day by 606 to 3915 - still behind South East - which was up a WHOPPING 1032 today to 4815 - by far the biggest England rise.

Week to week NW UP 17 from 3898. In other words back to the old story of flat as a pancake.

From these numbers GM was up by 161 of that 606 (from 1247 to 1408) - which is well below the expected rise by population.

GM from that week to week NW rise of just 17 is actually down by 110 from 1518 - Obviously pretty good news.

Within GM

MANCHESTER 273 - UP 74 on day & DOWN 19 wk to wk

STOCKPORT 172 - UP 25 on day & UP 2 wk to wk - not the worst in GM with second highest Pop Rise and a lot better than it has been of late

TAMESIDE 158 - DOWN 2 on day & UP 5 wk to wk - Zoe cannot ever get Tameside data right it seems but it is worse than neighbour Stockport today with easily the highest Pop Score rise (of 70) today due to lower population.

WIGAN 147 - DOWN 8 on day & UP 2 wk to wk - fairly flat

SALFORD 143 - UP 17 on day & DOWN 13 wk to wk - still doing OK here

OLDHAM 124 - UP 58 on day & DOWN 14 wk to wk - Not a good day here but down on week rescues that.

TRAFFORD 120 - UP 2 on day & DOWN 28 Wk to wk - much better than Stockport and rising by just 51 today it took 7 Pop Score points back from Stockport (who went up by 58) cutting the deficit on SKs lowest GM Pop Score to now just 67.

BOLTON 104 - UP 20 on day & DOWN 16 wk to wk - Good Day Here for Bolton and lowest Pop Score rise (of 30) in GM today.

BURY 85 - DOWN 19 on day & DOWN 11 wk to wk - a good a day here too. Pop score up 45

ROCHDALE 82 - DOWN 6 on day & DOWN 18 wk to wk - Pop Score of 37 does not beat Bolton (who are larger population) but is still a very good number here.

GM boroughs weekly past 7 day case totals:

Rochdale 530, Bury 579, Oldham 621, Bolton 684, Trafford 752 , Salford 854 . Wigan 931 , Tameside 950, Stockport 1051, Manchester 1508

Stockport's numbers have put it as second to Manchester - and these two are the only ones over 1000 and Stockport is closing the gap daily on Manchester right now. But a way to go to catch it.

Rochdale meanwhile has secured top spot from both Bury and Bolton.

Oldham is coming good heading for a challenge for top spot too.

GM WEEKLY POP SCORES

Remember low scores good - going down good - high scores bad - going up bad

BOROUGH // POP SCORE TODAY // POP SCORE LAST WEEK // UP OR DOWN BY LAST 7 DAYS

Also WAS 4 weeks ago (up/down in past month)

NB:- These are now versus the week when the population was readjusted so some of the 4 week old Pop scores are artificially low for the next few days on that 4 week old comparison. The other more recent data here is unaffected. And in a few days neither will the 4 week old data be.

OLDHAM 220 // 314 // DOWN 94 WAS 301 (down 81)

BOLTON 229 // 227 // UP 2 WAS 156 (up 73)

MANCHESTER 271 // 326 // DOWN 55 WAS 281 (down 10)

WIGAN 281 // 285 // DOWN 4 WAS 157 (up 124)

ROCHDALE 282 // 316 //DOWN 34 WAS 211 (Up 71)

BURY 309 // 258 // UP 51 WAS 283 ( up 26)

TRAFFORD 317 // 343 // DOWN 26 WAS 274 (up 43)

SALFORD 325 // 410 // DOWN 85 WAS 212 (Up 113)

STOCKPORT 357 // 369 // DOWN 12 WAS 270 (up 87)

TAMESIDE 416 // 396 // UP 20 WAS 270 (Up 146)

Oldham's big drops lately see it take top spot from Bolton.

As you can see many places are now falling with only really Bury and Tameside not/

Tameside is clearly in most trouble well ahead of the rest and up the most across the past month but even here is flattening off.

And Stockport's better couple of days has been enough to flatten it off to a small weekly fall very quickly.
