Good old bluemoon mafia. Some of you like to bully people on here.

For what it's worth I've had the vaccine and It's stopping people going into hospital for the large part but not the transmission.
It massively reduces transmission.

It even more massively stops serious/fatal cases of covid.

It’s not bullying to pull you up on an erroneous point in a very serious topic.

The problem with your last sentence is that people will be self deciding the best way through the pandemic, not only for themselves, but on behalf of others too. That imo, is not a good way fwd.

The only way they can introduce an effective lockdown is if Boris Johnson resigns.

I’m fully jabbed and have complied with rules but there’s an inescapable problem here which is people will not take orders from “leaders” who don’t comply themselves.

We’re told to trust the experts, but then we see the experts like Neil Ferguson breaking lockdown rules and we see politicians not just breaking rules but basically riding roughshod over them countless times through piss ups in Westminster.

I completely understand the need to contain this virus but the situation is now untenable in terms of the general population being convinced to curtail their own lives by people who refuse to curtail their own.

They’re so out of touch and arrogant that they just can’t understand the feelings of the general public (as an example see the advice this week for people to prioritise things that really matter and avoid going to football matches).

They’re so out of touch that they genuinely think they can lock people down again but they’re in for a shock because people simply won’t do it. If there is widespread refusal to comply then they’re going to have to adopt a very different approach - whether that’s mandated jabs at one extreme or just get on with life at the other.

Not sure why anyone is surprised that Sage in the run up to Christmas are asking us to buy what they are selling because we are all on course to get stuffed - They do this every year - resulting in boxes of the stuff they are selling left in the kitchen until next Christmas when they will do it all over again.

More seriously, not sure where the 1 - 2 weeks cases to hospitalisation comes from. We ARE already seeing rising admissions in London in around 4/5 days of rising cases starting there so I think that is more appropriate. Deaths ARE more like 2/3 weeks due to our intervention methods.

Its not true at all. Several posters on here have hard ons for sharing negative news
Then you are talking about different things. We are all of us drawn to negative stories, part of our instinct to recognise danger so as to be able to survive.

What you seem to be objecting to is posters who appear to you to be only highlighting stories/data that is negative and posting it on here, and you are then suggesting that they are doing so deliberately and revelling in the discomfort that creates.

If we let the virus go with as minimal restrictions as possible, like we are doing then surely the quicker it will mutate to become less severe as they do. Then the sooner this will be over. Spanish flu lasted three years. Sure it was different times with very limited international travel and no vaccine, but it did mutate and we did become imune to it?
Flu will be with us forever but it’s a different strain every year and the vaccine is adjusted accordingly Covid as I understand it is a SARS virus that’s been around for a few years and is now predicted to be with for the future but hopefully will lessen in severity and hopefully vaccines in tablet form will make it just a part of normal life where we don’t worry about it.
