One in twenty is their headline summary for London.

I know that. But did you look at the data for the 19th for London? The other thing that is notable is that Delta is not falling.

Look at the rate of growth! the 19th Dec is effectively the 17th in terms of when they were infected. Then extrapolate.

The media have not picked up on this but the SAGE will. There is nothing they can do though. Too late.

the vast majority have just cold symptoms.
I know that but what do you do when you get Covid: you isolate. Unless the government changes the isolation requirements for Covid it will be chaotic after the public holiday because few businesses will be able to work.

Restrictions in the New Year are unlikely in my opinion because this spike is extraordinary. It's much bigger than people realise because people aren't going to hospital and I doubt many people report positive LFT results.

By that I mean it''s too late to stop the spread in London. Logistics. Keeping people at work is the issue now but how do you do that? It's unstoppable. Look at the rate of growth and what can you do about it? Nothing. It'll be crashing in London in days. All this data is old and specimen dates are old too. They post date infection by 2 days.

The period between Christmas and New year is going to see England grind to a halt but it does anyway. But what would be the point of restrictions when everyone has got omicron or has already had it, or has been boosted? It will be too late. Chaos ahead but only for a small number of days.

I have deleted that. It was not a good idea from me to comment on that tonight.

Going to stay off and forget the numbers for the weekend. Overdoing it now. And not going to let them spoil anyones Christmas. Mine incuded. The good news outweighs the bad right now for sure anyhow.
If they were scousers it would have been a fair comment

My mrs great uncle tested positive yesterday.

90 years old. Triple jabbed. No symptoms beyond a tiny sniffle, doesn’t feel remotely ill apart from feeling pissed off it’s cocked up his Christmas as he was meant to be coming round to my mother in laws with us.

We’ve come a long way thanks to the vaccines.

This isolation nonsense needs to be scrapped for vaccinated people. Perfectly healthy bloke, we’re all jabbed, how many more christmases does he have to spend with his family at 90!!

Since that is what you believe, invite him round? You should perhaps discuss it with all those planning to attend first though.

Think he wants to stick by the rules etc.

Still, absolutely gutted for the old fella.

Went for a drink with his pal at the golf club apparently and thinks he picked it up from there.

Agree with your view on vaccinated not necessarily having to isolate, but do you think the unvaccinated would voluntary isolate? I'm not so sure.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you but if he comes round, it's very likely you will also get covid.
How many unvacianated people are you going to be around in the next week, even if it's just the shopkeeper or barman?
