Yes generally people that don't smoke don't buy cigerattes (you know because they dont smoke) and don't require NHS treatment for smoking as they don’t smoke. I have no idea what your point is.
If they don’t smoke they don’t pay the tax. As the debate was they were contributing to the NHS with their cigarette tax, look back through the thread.

Perhaps those admitted to hoapital arnt as ill like the data from SA indicated. Didnt the data indicate that people were in hospital for significantly less time compared to delta?
They may be but these are mostly coming just from London over weekend (up 380) and North West (218) - the latter now accelerating fast. Midlands now shooting up too (up 175).The other regions are all going to go the same way over the next week or so and that is the concern. Sheer numbers all at once stressing the NHS when staff are themselves off isolating for 7 days in large numbers. Next few days will be crucial

The unvaxxed that find themselves needing serious hospital care are cashing out their tax paid to the NHS - if/when they return to full health thanks to the NHS then they can carry on being taxed and paying for their care again when back to work.

Edit - changed the word contribution/contribute as Gray seemed to think I was talking about NI when I was on about general taxation.

Be interesting to see what the anti vax crowd do when Plaxovid soon becomes available as an oral anti viral that can be taken at home which the scientific community are citing as a potential game changer to the hospitalisation issue - UK government has put in an initial order of 250K at a cost of USD 570.00 a course.

Will an anti vaxxer who catches covid and starts to become ill suddenly question the chemical components of Plaxovid that has also been fast tracked to market? No, they will just conveniently re-position the dial of their moral compass from selfish twat to self preservation and will neck their pills as soon as they can.

Ive just checked, the SA data indicated that with Omicron you were 80% less likely to be admitted to hospital and if you were admitted with Omicron you were 70% less likely to develop severe disease. Perhaps its these figures that the government are relying on?

Mate I think you're getting your wires crossed, what he's saying is that smokers and drinkers more than pay for any treatment that they may or may not need from the nhs by the amount of tax they pay on those goods. When you say they, are you talking about anti vaxers?

You do realise that National Insurance contributions are not just for the NHS don’t you.
