I use Aldi as well, but the only time I will go is Sunday morning.
I've found the best time for turning up is half an hour after it opens.
The scrotes are either still in bed or having a pre- shop mcdonalds, and the initial rush of people who wait outside for it to open has subsided.

I got there about 1:15 no queue to get in and fairly quiet. I have a Waitrose minutes walk from me but not only is it extortionate it is always packed.

This new variant being more deadly. Presumably an accident of nature as it gains no evolutionary advantage killing off your host after you settle in.

Of course, this is a virus and obviously not a rational intelligent species that understands ecology and balance and would never wreck the home where it hopes to live by destroying other species around it and despoiling that home just because it can more easily do other stuff that way.

As humans we can see the folly of anything doing that and we would ....

um - oh yes. Right.
Too true. As alluded to in the Matrix, all Humans are a virus.

I live in an EU country (Czech Republic) and we are up to 150,000 total vaccinations, which is about 1.5% of the population. Just not enough vaccines to do more. It may improve a bit if the EU approves some of the other vaccines.

Number of cases is higher (pro rata) than the UK at present and the geniuses here are talking about opening schools again in the next week or two.
I have a colleague in Prague who although only in his mid 30s takes this pandemic extremely seriously and has done so from the start. He has been scathing in his criticism after the government opened up last year after the initial successful lockdown and it has clearly been a disaster since.

It's time supermarkets started doing their bit aside from adverts going on about masks and only one person shopping, but then doing bugger all to enforce any of these rules.

I went to do my weekly shop at Aldi today. Although not overly busy, I'd try to time it so it wasn't, there was still couples and whole families shopping. Kids running about grabbing stuff, none in masks, sitting on the counter at the back where you pack your shopping, it winds me up.

Food shopping is the only place I mix now. I have no choice but to go there or I'll starve and deliveries are once again booked up in advance. I understand single parents may have no option but to take their kids but the majority were full families. I feel like I'm playing bloody Russian roulette once a week.
Asda seem to have delivery slots. But I've a delivery pass, you could create an account and see

Weekly Pop is same measure across last 7 days only. Can rise or fall depending on if more cases or less occur today v the same day last week.

Either way Up is bad, down is good.

Manchester 349 – up the most in GM today from 257. Total 43, 429. Weekly 2167. Another big drop week to week though. Pop score up 63 to 7855. Weekly Pop down 15 to 392.

Wigan 180 - up from 148. Total cases 23, 744. Weekly 1188. Pop score up 54 to 7224. Weekly Pop down 8 to 361.

Salford 171- up from 139. Total cases 18, 720. Weekly 937. Pop score up 66 to 7232. Weekly Pop up 2 to 362.

Bolton 159 - down from 166. Total cases 20, 562. Weekly 1044. Pop score up 55 to 7155. Weekly Pop stays at 363.

Tameside 139 – up from 125. Total cases 14, 457. Weekly 754. Pop score up 61 to 6383. Weekly Pop down 9 to 333.

Stockport 138 – up from 128. Total cases 16, 390. Weekly 965. Sub 1000 for first time in a while. Pop score up 47 to 5586. Weekly Pop down 29 to 329. Big drop as cases now stable and well down on last week.

Trafford 121 - up from 113. Total cases 13, 594. Weekly 774. Pop score up 51 to 5727. Stockport's Pop Score lead stretches another 4 to 141. Weekly Pop down 5 to 326.

Bury 112 - up from 77. Total cases 14, 174. Weekly 652. Pop score up 58 to 7421. Weekly Pop down 2 to 341.

Rochdale 97 - down from 103. Total cases 17, 397. Weekly 718. Pop score up 44 to 7822.Weekly Pop down 16 to 323.

Oldham 88 - up from 81. Total cases 19, 214. Weekly 616. Best weekly total in GM and lowest in some time. Pop score up 37 to 8103. Lowest rise in GM today. Weekly Pop down 21 to 259. All the best numbers with Oldham.

I suspect it cannot be a coincidence that the area in GM with the highest Pop score across the pandemic and so by consequence the highest level of infections and so local herd immunity is now consistently and quite clearly the best on all measures across Greater Manchester.

But nobody in GM now above the 300s is a sign of falling numbers and real progress across the past week.
