I think I said at the start of the week, this time next week let’s hope we are at 9 million vaccines and cases down to 23,000. Not far off on either I don’t think so a step forward. Let’s hope next week we are at 11/12/13 million and cases well under 15,000 and more evidence the vaccine is starting to impact. I think most people have conducted themselves beautifully this year and been kind and supportive of each other. We might come out of this better in the long run with the science advances, more mental health support and a better work life balance.

we have all shared this incredibly tough period of adversity together. If that can’t make us better humans nothing will.

Good luck with that:-)

you cant say that! Cleavers will go mad.
The important word there is "nearly" so it's still not "500k a day" and has been well short all week , as you well know and haven't mentioned.

I've never been critical of the government on this, they're doing a great job, I just remain realistic about how quickly we get out of this mess.

Lets see how the numbers do over this weekend, as the number today is actually less than it was last Saturday (Fridays number).

Update no dead arm, no feeling unwell
took 5 seconds to administer go and get it done if your invited.Good luck @Tim of the Oak today with yours my friend

I had mine Friday night at The Etihad, felt a bit ropey during the day yesterday (basically cold and a bit achy) but had a couple of paracetamol and that helped. I've woken up this morning and feel absolutely fine with just a bit of a dead arm.

Here's a question for those who have been vaccinated?

Did you have to hang around for 15 minutes afterwards? My mother in law had her first shot of Pfizer at Wigton Hospital a week last Friday and she was straight out after she had it. They told her to take paracetamol if she felt unwell (she was fine).

Obviously if they get rid of the 15 minute wait then they can go even faster, especially at smaller locations.

I was told to wait 15 mins as I was driving, but the missus wasn’t as she wasn’t driving

We need to maximise use of the most effective vaccines to reduce transmission to the max. This might mean using Pfizer to the full even though more expensive and more awkward. We need though to work out which is truly the most effective. This matters because not everyone is going to take the vaccines and hence to get R below 1 without any isolation measures is going to take very effective vaccines. Perhaps it's going to take vaccination of children to do this. I think vaccine uptake will be very very high because people will realise that the only way that they can do the things they want to do relatively safely is through vaccination.
Agreed. Rather surprised that there hasn’t been more talk of building plants and acquiring the equipment needed to facilitate its supply, especially if boosters are required. The financial costs in comparison to continued economic shutdown are negligible, and if it can save more lives, then that is paramount.
If the situation in Israel rapidly improves, societies and by extension governments will use it as the benchmark.
