That's one expensive haircut... 31 Met Police officers handed £200 fines for using professional barber while on duty

The group of officers had their hair cut by a barber while on duty at Bethnal Green police station last month, breaking COVID-19 rules.

Two officers who helped organised the activity, which was meant to be for charity, are under investigation for misconduct.

Local policing commander Detective Chief Superintendent Marcus Barnett said the incident was "deeply disappointing and frustrating".

"Although officers donated money to charity as part of the haircut, this does not excuse them from what was a very poor decision. I expect a lot more of them," he said.

"It is right therefore, officers should each face a £200 fine, as well as misconduct action for those two who organised this event

Out of curiosity, I received my positive test past Thursday. I feel largely okay now however, I've been experiencing this weird tingling sensation/ache all over my back. Never had it before and its so uncomfortable yet ibuprofen/paracetamol doesn't seem to take the edge off it. Has anyone else had similar?

We'll see I have my doubts.

Probably trying to trick people into booking a holiday in the UK. With the current situation and how things are progressing there's no chance we won't be going abroad by sometime in the summer.

So total deaths with all settings in England to come (always a big add on midweek though tomorrow is usually the most) is 986. It was 945 last Tuesday

That became 1610 as huge numbers out of hospital in England were added on both Tuesday and Wednesday.

The other 3 nations are already inclusive of out of hospital deaths. Only England reports separately.
I am hoping last weeks out of hospital figures wete mopping up a lot of the previous lag. i would hate to think that this week we are going to see a repeat.

Me too.

Also hoping that the most vulnerable being vaccinated in many places like the care home data in Scotland and Greater Manchester where we are near 100% it seems will be seriously mitigating the death numbers in coming weeks. As that would be extremely good news for everyone yet to have it.

A virus that makes people ill but rarely kills them is transformative as it is the difference between finding a working normality we can all return to and living in war time restrictions indefinitely.

Truly awful numbers, but I can try and take solace that it looks like we're at the peak of this now and the cases are falling very quickly, consistently. I'd not be surprised if next week's deaths start to be down each day when we look back week on week. Fingers crossed.
