All back to work tomorrow thank god on the Isle of Man! Been Covid free again for 16 days after a full lockdown since the 6th January over 6 positive cases! Pubs , restaurants, gyms, shops etc all open as normal again with no masks etc :-)

lucky you! Feels like forever here.

felt like forever over here mate! We were Covid free for 7 months and then we were getting a few cases a day from students who came back for Christmas? The government over here decided on a circuit breaker lockdown to knock it on the head and seemingly it has worked

Your point was valid.

there is no point vacinating if we have to continue to be locked away from one another.

the idea that we should stay locked down all summer when cases will decline naturally just in case the vaccines don’t work in the autumn is difficult to fathom.

lockdown fetishism is almost but not quite as odd as covid denial
I may be wrong but isn't it because the predominant age group of those taking hospital beds is now lower 50 - 65 yrs?, so need to get that demographic jabbed up first

anybody who thinks the current travel ban will stop the virus is wrong , cant fly to dubai no problem, fly to Frankfurt ,Schiphol or any other hub and transfer from there, the amount of bags i saw yesterday with emirates tags on from Frankfurt was scary, the government needs to stop this loop hole asap , oh and before people start saying it might be essential travel , there was a lot of golf bags

Just thinking about those who are on furlough, has any leave entitlement been reduced pro rata or will you all have double leave when work returns to 'normal' later this year? I assume the latter.
It’s accrued just as normal. Although I know there were a few raised eyebrows when some companies opened last summer to find their staff immediately asked for 3 weeks off!

no, thats whats pissing some people off at work , they have had to take holidays for days off, the furlough lads(me included from time to time) have had months off and can save all our holidays :), some lads have been off nearly a year and they still get their holiday entitlement.

Borderline political but some data that maybe of interest, all the same.

That’s not what is being discussed.

what is being discussed is the proposition that even when cases have subsided in the summer (and ergo less 50-65s filling up beds) we should carry on with lockdown right the way through.

ridiculous.

at the rate we’re going, over 50s should be done by autumn.
