I think you have that wrong. We had only done around 1 million by the start of the year. 12 weeks from then is towards the end of March before it starts to go up significantly.

My edit in my first post also quoted the head of the NHS saying today that the rate of vaccinations will double to cover both second shots and the current rate of first shots.

Also, quite a lot of people still got both Pfizer jabs - my mum for example has had both Pfizer and she had her second on the 10th Jan.

What's people's opinions of a covid passport?
I have no objection to them at all and I will get my jab when it's my turn. All fine.

However I think people who refuse to have it are well within their rights to say no. But will those people risk being shunned from society and discriminated against?
Would this violate human rights?
It's an interesting debate but I dont think it would be fair to say to people you can't go on holiday go to a pub cinema etc as you have refused the vaccination.

In favour for travel, you need to prove you’ve been vaccinated to enter some countries even before Covid.

Not in favour of it for pubs and cinemas etc.

I’m not a conspiracy theorist and I think those not taking the vaccine, who don’t legitimately have health risks like pregnancy or a history of bad reactions to vaccines, are selfish imbeciles.

However it’s a step too far to do the latter.

No they are not, however a significant enough proportion, whilst still a minority, will set us back if they think it’s nearly over.

I'm in the same position with that, but part of me wants to see those covidiot qanonces sat in the car park in their cars whilst raging in the anti-maxi forums on their phones...whilst their jabbed mates enjoy themselves in the pubs.

So more lies and psychological crap rather than the truth to come from Boris and sage then. No chance of people being allowed to assess their own risk and use their own brains.

I actually think the lack of trust worsens the compliance and those who don’t comply anyway don’t change their mind with more rules. Like the naughty child who shockingly doesn’t respond when the parent/teacher makes further rules.

It’s probably been covered before but Pimlico Plumbing in London ( plumber’s to the celebrities ) won’t be taking on any new starters unless they can prove they’ve had the vaccine.

Whilst I agree it will serve them right, my worry is the long term implications it may have, and this may be a point for the politics forum.

Whilst I am in favour of the current restrictions, UK politics has changed forever as a result of the lockdowns and whilst it will likely help stop the virus even quicker, the state not allowing British citizens entry into premises that would be ordinarily open to anyone, because they have refused to have something put into their bodies, is a slippery slope.

As I say, I’m not a conspiracy theorist and think lockdown + vaccination is the best possible way out but whenever authoritarian measures are introduced, you must ask why and you must question the wider and longer implications.

My message is take the vaccine and let’s get this beat, though.

I went out for a walk in the City centre this evening. Walked down Cross St and King St. That's prime retail space. That area was struggling before the lockdown but it's devastated now. Commercial lenders must be getting hammered. 1/3rd of shops are up for let in these areas. Of course this is probably the worst moment now as who would buy commercial premises now when you can't open them. If it was your life's ambition to open a restaurant or cafe then now might be the time to strike a bargain. Risky though.

I think the last 12 months have proven allowing people to decide for themselves has had dire consequences.

And you’re talking to someone who had that very opinion and was anti lockdown last summer.
