Tested positive this morning.

I'm absolutely devastated

So did my son whos 20. Its everywhere. Great Christmas present. Hes got a low fever and small cough. wife and I probably got it now too. Oh well, ive got loads of food in at least.

I wouldn't worry too much. I had Hong Kong flu as a 14 year old in 1968 and again two years later in the second global wave. Both times I was in bed for two weeks and had to crawl to the toilet. It was a nightmare.

I've never had the flu since.

I recall Hong Kong Flu being particularly nasty as a relative got it. Weirdly enough even tho it apparently killed 80,000 people, I don’t recall it mentioned that much at the time, but then again I was young.

I wish they would bin it from the news completely. It’s been a breathe of fresh air today not having that on the news.

Well according to the data for the new variant this is becoming less and less likely. I mean even originally Covid wasn’t a deadly death sentence, yes it could be serious for the elderly and people with underlying conditions, we locked down and these people shielded.

This is not to downplay what has happened and the loss many people have faced but the scales have to tip eventually, if they haven’t already the other way.

It’s going to be a hard narrative to move away from. But it needs to happen.

Ahh hope he's alright and just has minor symptoms. I'm finding avoiding bright lights and alternating between Panadol and Ibruprofen is keeping most of it chilled. Like you said at least there's food in and we're not on our own. I'd hate to feel like this and have to completey isolate on my own.

I reckon there's big, big numbers in the next week or so. Know another 3 people who have all been knocked sideways with it today.

Stay safe. And fed. Hasn't affected my appetite thank fuck and I can still taste to an extent.

Hoping all those on here who have it or know someone with it will be ok. Most seem to have barely a cold but noticed a couple saying they’re quite bad with it. Which kind of mirrors those who I know who have it at the moment. All have mild symptoms apart from one who said he could hardly breathe yesterday. He’s triple jabbed so can only assume Delta has got him rather than Omicron.

It was the winter of 68/69, although just about to turn nine, I remember loads of games being called off including City's 5th round tie at Blackburn because most of their squad had it.
