Locking people down and restrictions is not the way to do it, like that or not.
Especially if those getting ill are NOT vaccinated.
I'm all for personal choice but it does have implications for the person chosing not to get vaccinated down the line.
Much like smoking and alcohol.
If we run out if beds then the unvaccinated must come behind the vaccinated in the queue.

so you think letting thousands of people die is the answer?

You are Chris Whitty and I claim my £5.

For clarity I’ve never said it’s ok for thousands to die but nice try. Thousands are not currently dying either are they, in fact, covid hospitalisations are not bringing the NHS to its knees, despite being told by all the experts it would so let’s move onto the argument about the NHS and how we equip it for the next 100 years and 70 million people and let’s stop hiding behind covid.

Nobody is locked down, restrictions are and will be used if they think hospitals are in danger of being overwhelmed, doesn't matter whether I or you like it. It's how every country deals with it. Just saying hospitals should be able to cope without restrictions isn't a plan.

Omicron is a mild illness ffs, it’s not Ebola!
Thank you Dr. Blueinsa. Your expert opinion on this matter - contrary to health experts and science is most welcome. With any Goddamn luck whatsoever, we'll not be following your advice and will avoid the needless deaths of thousands of individuals when hospitalization becomes impossible due to the overwhelming number of affected people.

Which is okay as a point of view I understand it, but we know it isn't going to happen those people will be treated along with anyone else, we are hardly going to turf out some unvaccinated to let in some vaccinated so again we have deal with the reality as it is, not as we'd wish it.

for clarity, you claimed locking down is not the answer. Yet We only locked down int the past because the NHS couldn’t cope. If it looks like the NHS can’t cope again we will lock down again because if we don’t thousands of innocent people die.

fixing the NHS is something that will take 5-10 years minimum.

Currently, if the NHS does get to overload The options are lockdown or thousands die. There are no other option.

Basically do your bit, get omicron and end the pandemic.
You may be saying that in jest but that's actually the direction of travel that is building up with the Portuguese equivalent of Sage here. Mr Gomes is the second of the group of government advisors to come out yesterday and suggest this in the last week.

Epidemiologist and member of Portugal’s Vaccine Technical Commission Manuel Carmo Gomes has opened the door to a different approach to Covid-19, now that the Omicron variant has been (almost) universally recognised as ‘milder than Delta’ and not leading to mass hospital admissions. Talking to Lusa today, he said: “If it really is less serious than Delta in highly vaccinated populations, like ours, then perhaps it makes sense to leave people to become immunised naturally.I have never advocated theories of group immunity through natural infection, but we are in a completely different situation, with the population practically fully-vaccinated and a variant that, for now, doesn’t look very worrying in terms of hospitalisations”.

“Maybe we should just let people become infected naturally”: epidemiologist opens possibility of ‘light’ at end of Covid tunnel - Portugal Resident

I am fully expecting another presidential decree any time soon for on the spot fines for wearing a mask and compulsory hugging and kissing of complete strangers in the streets. Might be in place in time for the CL game with Sporting...

Ive got a hacking cough and really bad throat On day 4. Still get a 99f fever at night. Sick of it

Ah mate that's really shit. I found alternating Panadol and Ibruprofen helped a lot but know everybody is different. My missus has the cough and headache still so I know up to now I've managed to swerve quite a fucking lot. Hopefully it breaks soon for you bloody crazy how the same virus effects people so differently.

How many people need to be admitted to hospital for Covid treatment in order for the NHS to be overwhelmed to the extent that thousands die due to lack of treatment?

Not a chance that would happen, shame mind.
