Coronavirus (2022) thread

I'm not arguing with any of that, partly cos it's for the politics thread but mainly because I don't know all the facts of it.

But I will stick to the point that the bile directed at Sturgeon in particular here comes across to me as on another level, and related to her gender. YMMV.
I can only comment for myself obviously, but her gender has absolutely nothing to do with my opinion of her.

You could always cut out the middleman and go direct to the politics thread.

Much of the bile about Sturgeon seems to me to be related to sad, poorly endowed men who can't cope with the idea of a woman being in charge.
Is that the same when people criticise Patel then?

Or maybe they just think she’s a shit leader.

It’s really not. It’s about stinking hypocrisy, ‘do as we say not as we do‘, which has been evident from minute one, from ALL of them. With her in particular, it’s about trying so much to be the opposite of Johnson, which is obviously never a bad thing, but failing spectacularly!

She’s now talking about wearing masks and extending vaccine passports ’in the longer-term to enable us to live with it (Covid) with far fewer protective measures’.
The memo obviously passed her by!

She arrived at COP, got out of her car and popped on a mask, whilst OUTSIDE. She the went INSIDE…..

The only mask wearers are staff, by the looks of it, just how our betters like it.
Sorry mate, we’re not being led we’re being ruled, by her, by Johnson and by Drakeford and they love it….

Given the public nature of this event, and everyone snapping and disiminating this picture, and no doubt others, I am not convinced it reaches the level of throwing a private party contrary to regs at the time and trying to keep it secret.

You can criticise Sturgeon for not setting an example at a public event, but I’m not going with this very public photo as evidence she is showing signs of wanting to rule as the first despot of Scotland.

I freely admit I don’t get the uproar over current restrictions (what little they are) and if the Scottish or Welsh people think their devolved Govts have been over cautious, then they can reflect that in the polling and in future votes.

We are in my view, for what it’s worth, moving to the end game where we manage the virus as we manage all other viruses and that has been the direction of travel ever since we came up with several successful vaccines. Equally, I have no issue with Govts adopting a cautious approach until data is confirmed.

The inquest into how we handled this pandemic is going to show a lot of shitty mistakes were made and we will learn absolutely zero from them as various political factions try and demonstrate they, and there worldview, were right all along and bore us all to fucking tears.

Hopefully, I’m wrong and we do draw valuable lessons from this experience. But that will only happen if we keep politics out of it. Which we won’t :)

First day out for me, after two negative lateral flo tests, still felt very tired, but took the dogs out for a walk late this afternoon. Far from 100% tho as yet.

I take it the dogs were like ‘finally, the lazy sod is taking us out for a walk. Covid my arse’.
Haha yes, they were a little like that, although they hadnt been totally deprived my eldest has been taking them out. TBH it was a really good feeling being outside, after being stuck upstairs in a bedroom and office for 8 days. Wife has been pretty strict with me.
