Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Neutral venues not going to happen with three teams already against it. Restarting with games at home stadiums behind closed doors is a complete no no. The Government should stop pissing about and coming up with tripe about improving moral, just tell those in charge of the game that the season is over and the next one is not going to start on time either.

Frankly with this lovely weather I am actually missing the cricket more.
Needs 7 teams to dissent; but who will be first to put head above parapet and hope others (at least 6) will follow?

Marvin, of course I do not know your personal position, but let's have a hypothetical. Your late twenties, have a good job, a wife and 2 young kids. You go to work on Monday and say good bye to your wife and kids and say, stay safe I'll see you in 5 weeks, as once your in work you have to eat, drink and sleep there. How would you ,and more importantly you wife and kids take it?

if the workplace had a free bar, that would be my wettest of dreams...

Three already against it Watford, Brighton and Villa - so only another four needed I hope we are one of them.
Not sure on our position, although with the Etihad touted as one of the venues we have effectively ruled out playing there either way by saying the NHS can have use of it as long as they want!!

And just give the scousers the sodding cup to shut them up.

Absolutely. Voiding the league would seem best option for most clubs, if it were only based on best-case scenario for league position, ie, not taking into account the health threats etc.

It has to be a no for the simple reason of integrity of the competition, rule changes 75% of the way through the season can only lead to law suits when the eventual 3 get relegated, it's s different game altogether if neutral venues are used, it would be bad enough closed doors at home but neutral is crazy! Add to this the substitute rule change, no VAR and even shorter halves muted it's just plain stupidity. End this FArce now....

#ManCity will continue their ‘groundshare’ with the NHS even after the Premier League re-starts next month. With games certain to be behind closed doors, City believe the Etihad Stadium is big enough for both of them.

“This is seen as a long-term partnership and we are ready to support the NHS as needed over the coming weeks and months. We believe we are the first club to make that commitment.” [via

Other clubs are very quiet
