Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Some of the posters who want a return to football reason that the posters who want a further delay because we want to stop the Dippers winning the title , which i find amusing when our club is in with a great chance of winning another treble and firmly putting the Dippers in their place for yet another season.

So lets stop accusing our own supporters of being small minded enough to begrudge the Dippers a now meaningless title , when the reasons i believe after following this thread for a few weeks is that the vast majority of Bluemoon posters are concerned about health issues , safety issues ,and the integrity of a now much changed Premier league format and the sheer greed of top level football in this country.
Well said.

Why was it down to Boris ? The Mayor of Liverpool could have stopped it by simply revoking the Safety Certificate. The police chief could have stopped it by refusing to police it on safety grounds. The truth is Li'pool wanted desperately for this game to be played in front of a full house. They wanted the crowd to 'suck the ball into the net', so if anyone it is to blame it was the Mayor, Klopp and FSG.
Can you imagine what would have happened if a Tory posh boy had told a scouse nation (their not English) the game was behind closed doors ? If we are looking to lay blame, leave politics out of it and look to the real guilty party.
Good post BM, and actually relevant to the "Coronavirus football discussion thread" for a change.

Found a few reports, certainly they had a spike,as did cheltenham and Brent where wembley is had the worst in London in for a while after wembley ,certainly something in those events

Yes because thousands had it unknowingly at the time, the horse bolted at school half term in Feb when people went on holidays to Spain, and Italy, and brought it back in large numbers infecting many of us. Nobody knew that at Wembley for our game as it was only a wekk since the schools went back, but they did know when Cheltenham and the scouse madrid game occurred, 2-3 weeks later, and they should have been stopped, and they could have been by local authorities as much as government, trouble is everyone was thinking about money not people.

In hindsight I'm glad our games against arsenal and madrid were cancelled, because there would have been other spikes.

I don't know the answer to that and I would even question whether the figure of 42 is true. Call me a cynic but I simply don't believe anything that is said about that club.

The question that really needs answering is..

If the dippers would have won the game and they were odds on favourites to do just that, do you think the covid deaths would be being discussed in the media..?

They had all the statistics, weighed up all the risks, ignored them all and decided to go for a glorious night under the lights..

Their arrogance held no bounds as they thought they'd just turn up and win.. remember the sweaty sock gobbling it off after the first leg about getting them back to Anfield where AM would then shit themselves..

All calculated to allow the dippers to then bask in the plaudits that they took for granted that would be theirs..

Unfortunately, AM turned up and handed them their arse on a plate..

Cue, woah is me, shouldn't have taken place, should be played again, result should be expunged..!

Always the victims, never their fault..!

There were people dying left right and centre right across Europe.

It certainly informed my own decision about not going to Wembley.

As you say, the Scousers were far too selfish to actually make an informed decision for themselves, being far too in love with their idea of another supposedly famous European comeback night.

Klopp has blood on his hands if you want to start pointing fingers that the game shouldn't have gone ahead.

He spent days before it warning Atletico that there would be payback for the hostile atmosphere his rats had experienced in Madrid.

You know, that place in Spain that was already at the epicentre of the country's virus outbreak?

Personal responsibility, something Scousers have no knowledge of.

Always best to blame someone else and ignore the part where their fans have contributed in whatever manner.

PSG played Dortmund that same night behind closed doors!

Agree about our games cancelled,i never know when school holidays are and where people go holidays,i know a lot of you said you weren't go to go to wembley at the time, maybe if I had made the above connection i might not have gone either

I don't think we can excuse Cheltenham ,the rugby or the dipper game,it was only because it was them and it was supposed to another miracle and anfield moment which meant it was never ever going to be cancelled, the cult is strong in that city, sadly now there has price to pay

When football stopped i said i hope this forced some kind of re- set and football was just out of control, money wise and the clique wise, but alas we have the most ridiculous rules and ideas to make it happen, totally disrigard for the safety of the players and everyone that has to put hands on them like physios.i greatly object to using nearly a thousand test that care workers can't get,are they planning on doing that twice a week every week

I'm short I am against trying to finish this season, even if that hurts us and it does, build up to a new season in Sept ish when everyone will be much safer
