Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

We're at the stage now where even if the season re-starts everything that goes after will be tarnished. Same in European competitions.
The money men will be happy though.
Exactly, we could win the champs league this season and I would feel very little about it all. Are there any City fans on here who are genuinely excited by the restart of this season?

I find it strange that there seems to be no comments regarding a certain Rio Ferdinand who took his young family to Manchester for the BLM March in Piccadilly on Saturday.
When he was questioned he said it was important for his family to see what the gathering was all about.
Personally, I would keep my family away from such a large gathering and away from the possibility of catching COVID 19. Wonder if all the 1000s there are now in isolation
It doesn’t apply in the UK but I wonder which statistically is the more likely killer of a young black man living in a city in America - Coronavirus or some kind of police incident.

Not in any way, shape or form. At the moment I couldn't give a shit. 40k dead, protesters everywhere, business is shit but it's ok we are going to play football again in empty stadiums with crowd noises etc. I suspect we will do enough to keep top four place and use it as a long pre season and blood a few youngsters.

Listen man the one thing we can all agree on is the shameless bias the PL have showed towards Pool - no arguments there. The whole neutral grounds fiasco is comically transparent in its bias and I’ve said countless times that once the rules change, the integrity is compromised and the asterisk grows bigger. For me that’s all good news for City because Pool would’ve won it anyway but now their triumph will always be tainted.

Of course the restart is about money, everything’s about money. That’s why we have to do it. The PL are no more greedy than your corner shop owner, your cafe owner, etc etc. Everybody wants their piece of the pie.

Everything's about money , everybody wants their piece of the pie , that's a very cynical view of the world , your either psychologically damaged or on a wind up , as your are a City fan i will go for the former , we've all suffered :) Having owned a cafe in Chorley for several years ,selling barm cakes etc., i can assure you greed was the furthest from my mind , paying staff , the VAT man , suppliers and the landlord and a moderate remuneration was my priority, somehow i don't think the Premier league have similar issues because they are the epitome of greed.

“Moderate remuneration” is money. You didn’t do it for free. Moderate to you is a pittance and a fortune to others depending on their circumstances. You can’t draw an arbitrary greedy line just to suit your own situation.

Does one really have to be psychologically damaged to acknowledge that society needs a robust economy to function properly ? You’re right I am cynical but I like to think of myself as a pragmatist.

It’s a big bad world Jimmy - it’d be great if it ran on love and peace and the beauty of nature but they don’t buy you Sergio Aguero or Kevin de Bruyne, cold hard cash does.

Exactly, not everybody is money driven; some people take pride in providing a service that others appreciate, some just like to help others without reward, and some are just happy to be healthy (and those are just three examples off the top of my head). The guy's a typical tory (self, self, self, money, money, money) and by the goading tone he takes, and with the contents of many of his posts designed to induce a reaction so that he can then take the moral high ground, I'd say he has strong sociopathic tendencies. I find it best to try to ignore this type of person, both in life, and on here.

Just my opinion :)
