Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

I don't understand why we can't get a haircut even though for the vast majority of the time you are facing away from tnem, both can wear masks, but it is ok to play a contact sport
No longer a problem for me :). I heard someone on tv this morning saying next week I can take my kids into McDonald's, but they cannot go to school. I honestly think the government is winging this and just being reactive to who shouts loudest. No way football should be broken up the way it has been, it is either safe to play or it isn't and with so many leagues not completing, that question for me remains unanswered.

Yep, can't see the season ending tbqh. We'll probably get a couple of weeks in and some positive cases will occur, season finished.

I'm quite comfortable with the season restarting as there won't be an opportunity for supporters to be present for the rest of this year at least and it has to start at some point. We have the opportunity to compete for the FA Cup and the CL so there is plenty at stake for us to be bothered.

Trying to compare a handful of professional football clubs playing under controlled conditions with over 20,000 schools not open or being partially open is palpable nonsense.

Another factor to throw in the mix is the kids and I would welcome @Marvin comment on this. It has been acknowledged that kids are not high risk but they have canned the return to schools because of the 2m spacing issue. So, like footballers (allegedly), who are low risk, they can break the 2m rule. The whole thing is being made up on the hoof by this government, let's hope all players and associates needed to make a game do not fall victim to this virus.
Football is an outdoor sport. Schooling takes place in classrooms.

Yeah i think you are right, some of this is making no sense,i think this is all about getting the dippers over the line,it is the glorious thing for the product,i feel sure if it was us they wouldnt be so keen

Controlled until they cross the white line then it is a contact sport with lots of shouting and and spitting and grabbling at corners and goal celebration of sorts, absolutely no social distancing...

It doesn't matter as none of the people on the pitch have the virus. Are people missing this point when comparing to visiting a hairdresser who would have hundreds of untested people in their salon every week? Lower League clubs probably don't have the resources to set up their own testing like the top clubs and who is going to get to watch them? They won't be on TV that's for sure.
