Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

At this point I'm nearing the 'just give them the damn thing' point of view. If I was of a more paranoid way of thinking I'd also be wondering if that's the point of the endless extensions.
When the 1939/40 season was cancelled due to the outbreak of war, and declared null and void, were the team at the top of the league at that time awarded the title? Substitute the word "pandemic" for the word "war" and you've got your answer.

For the curious, the answer is NO,

Wasn't that only 4/5 weeks into the season though?

Isolated camps? these people could not organise a piss up in a brewery but they now have grand ideas of being able to coordinate a clinically fool proof plan to quarantine all players and staff needed for the footy to go ahead. The idea is laughable whilst bordering the ridiculous.

It's the logistics of it that seems off. At a minimum you're going to have 1000+ people, plus all the staff needed to run all these hotels, transport and whatever else. All it will take is 1 person to catch it and the whole thing will collapse.

Its just the rambling of idiots, apart from anything else these footballers are scattered to the four winds with borders closed in some countries, advisories about not travelling, and no way to get insurance if they do, that's even if they want to, and there's no indication they will want to.

3 games and in 1914/15 the season was completed. This season teams have been 'promoted' and their results are now being expunged, that is why a lot of the non-league teams are kicking off.

Yes, it ends up as more games but it creates a defined end of the first half of the season as everyone has played each team once, with the return legs played later to conclude the season. I suppose I'm thinking more along legal lines as a way to {grits teeth} recognise the results so far {ungrit}.

Then again I've just found out that most of the PL are actively campaigning to get us banned from the CL so my preferred option now is that those lot go and rot in hell for eternity.

If something this bat shit crazy were to happen, it surely must require 100% backing from everyone concerned, not just the usual fourteen out of twenty or whatever it is. You can't coerce clubs and more importantly players to do this, everyone has to be on-board. I can think of a few clubs who won't sign up, one in particular might have something to say on the matter.

It would only take one club (us I would suggest) to say fuck off and if you try to sanction us we'll see you in court and the whole thing is off.

A lot of people on here are saying they are finished with football but I really hope that isn't the case.

Absolutely, not only is this idea ludicrous, but it's built of tissue paper, one puff and down it goes, and we can all wipe our arse with it.
