Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Please, 750 pages, football and coronavirus.
So why are people still posting that football being reported in the media is terrible.

Of course football, like any other business is making plans to return whenever it is safe to do so. I am thinking about how I can return to work. I am making plans, it doesn't mean I am returning tomorrow.
Some people post that they will never go again if the league starts without fans, others that they will not go because of fans around them. Can't please both those two sets of people.
Would people rather the football powers were not talking and planning, I think there are many who just don't want scouserrs to win the league at whatever price. Personally i am over it, let's get on with the future.

It seems like faux anger to me.

This would go down well

Fans will still need Sky or BT packages for matches that had been scheduled for pay TV (just over half) when the Premier League returns - but many of the other games may be screened for free. [

I can see the marketing already;
These are the exciting and incredible premier league teams that will be free to view on BBC and ITV thanks to the wonderful generosity of Sky, BT and the PL.

Bournemouth, Aston Villa, Watford, Norwich, Burnley, WHU, Newcastle, Brighton and of course the big hitters Burnley!

Your in for a feast! Seriously who gives a f*** except those greedy t#### playing in red and the red tops!

But why report it day after day ? All that needs to be said is, if the lockdown is over by the 1st June the league can be restarted. If the lockdown isnt lifted by the 1st june the league is null n void , no promotion no relegation. The new league will start when the lockdown is lifted . A simple statement from the fa. Instead the fa and the premiership come up with bonkers ideas to finish the season, if football starts in lockdown I see nothing but problems for the government as people will ignore the lockdown. This is bigger than football.

Problem is the standard of football reporting has been low for some time now and its the slant and tone of the restart at any cost brigade that is getting folk angry. Yes the football authorities should be planning like you are for getting back to business its just that they don't appear to be going about it in a mindful and sensitive manner. A growing disenchantment with the game which has been simmering below the surface for some time now has started to boil over during this pandemic accentuated in part by a lot of the coverage in the papers and Sky.
Your point about the Dippers is valid though as I like most others will have a not so quiet laugh if the season is voided. No faux anger in sight.

i know quite a few who couldn't care less if clubs go to the wall as long as they get their two wins
actual quote from a lad i know "do you think i would protect accrington stanley etc over us winning the title no chance"
he would scrap next season to finish this or whatever it takes and if clubs go by the wayside in the meantime he couldn't give two shits.
and he wont be the only one
and that is where your carraghers/thompsons/rush/aldridge/murphy/redknapps etc and their media darlings are all coming from when they wheel out the must finish for the integrity claptrap
so if that's faux outrage so be it

i get authorities need to plan for return no problem with that with all possibilites in mind , its the obvious get liverpool over the line mantra from the media that stinks

You can also point out many on here who seemingly would be prepared to see football collapse rather than Liverpool winning the title.

Many on here seem to be judging football by different standards to any other business. All are desperate to reopen as if they can't at some point there won't be a business. What would be left of the PL & the rest of football if it couldn't restart before next year say? A handful of clubs I would suggest with nowhere near enough to form one viable league.

Everyone wants football back when it’s safe don’t forget we are in a position to win a cup treble I want it back when the fa cup and champions league can be played! Is it fair that it comes back and they fuck if the fa cup and champions league but it’s fine to play the leagues game where there is a lot more games to Be played! I would of settled for Liverpool winning the tile by record points win the champions league if I can flick my fingers and this virus never happened.
